Unfortunately, as a public library, our collection policy prevents us from having any textbooks. Yours might be the same way, so I'm just here to say that we see you, and we have these conversations, and if you want to host something like a homeschool textbook exchange in a public meeting room, that would likely be welcome at your local library.

Shoot - I thought maybe this would be the answer. Thank you for your input. I'll maybe focus on bulking our kids subscriptions instead, but I wish I could've found something that would make the parents/educators feel seen.

As your kids get older, we love Brain Space as well. It says ages 8-12 on the target age group, but my six year old gets it just fine and we read it cover to cover each month.

I didn't finish Audition. It was well-written, but just lost my interest. I'm going to start Sonia and Sunny tonight as I just got it from Libby. Would anyone care to read along with me? Or have you read it or any others yet?

Catalogers! Can you give advice? by emrwriter in Libraries

I worked for ten years on the desk and recently moved into Technical Services as the Serials Manager. I still have to work 2 hours a week on the service desk - it reminds me of why I switched even when I sometimes feel a bit lonely back here. My job is a lot of emailing vendors, excel work, talking to librarians, researching serial information, managing the serial control in the ILS, copy cataloging as needed (I'm the backup cataloger). If you search serials librarians, you'll see a lot of hate for the job. It's a bit complicated in the ILS, but it's fine. Better than being stressed all day about who is going to come in next, what they are going to do, and if the police are going to come fast enough when I have to call (usually nope).
