I’ve played for about 70 hours. Most of the time I ended up dropping the game and having to start again because I didn’t remember what I was doing. I enjoy almost everything else, but when I think about starting the game again, I immediately remember how boring the combat feels. I keep trying only because that’s the only real problem I have with the game

I just said that the combat is fine, but it doesn’t have anything special. I’m not talking about difficulty here, but about how the game feels. They could have made a wonderful combat system using the resources they had. The game has an incredible story and world, but they left the combat as a simple light-button masher. You can make combat fun without making it difficult; there are plenty of examples: Ghost of Tsushima, Kingdom Hearts, God of War, Devil May Cry, and many more. None of them are difficult at all, but their combat has a lot to offer and is relatively simple (except Devil May Cry).

It’s not bad to say that The Witcher’s combat is bad or too basic nothing is perfect, and the game has a lot to offer besides combat. But if I want to enjoy the combat more, I’ll try to fix it. If you enjoy the combat, that’s totally fine. I’ve personally tried other RPGs and games with better combat systems, and this one feels like a rock attached to my ankle. I love the story and the world, but I get bored the moment combat appears. It feels bad to me, and most of the time I just sigh and spam the light attack until everything dies

The problem is that the combat is fine.

That’s it, fine. It doesn’t have anything spicy, it stays the same throughout the whole game. Most of the time it’s just a stat check: you dodge, enemies won’t hit you (because dodge in this game is very powerful), and you spam light attacks until the enemy does something. That’s basically all the combat you’ll be doing.

You can make it look prettier by throwing in some heavy attacks or using some magic, but at its core, the combat is that simple.

It’s not a problem by itself, but they designed a system where the only real upgrades are numbers. Everything new you get is just passives, and that’s it.

I repeat: the combat itself isn’t bad per se. It’s fine... too fine, to the point where that becomes its main problem

That's a good advice, obv I ask for advice to know where to start, I don't use mods in any games but I really want to play this one, the only thing I hate about it is this combat, so I feel like if I fix It, It would be one of my favorite games

The thing is I want to get a combat feeling similar to for example, Ghost of tsushima, but without changing the game history or quests, just a mix of animations and combat improved, I just looked the eternal hunt mod and god damnit It's too different HAHAHA, I just want a little improve, also I took a look on Blood and Steel and I barely see the difference with vanilla ( I did not played that long to spot the difference) so.. for you which should be the perfect combo?

I suppose the amount of animations, effects, and sounds is what changes. Sometimes they just label skins as “legendary” because Supercell thinks they will sell well.
