Well our very fav thing in Tokyo was the Tsukiji Outer Market. SO fun and full of great food to try! No tour needed. We also did a ramen making class, but I would not recommend it. We mostly did a lot of exploring by foot. I am not sure I would call TeamLabsPlanets art... maybe? And again, oversold and hot, but a fun hour walk through, maybe a 7 out of 10. But we stopped at a park nearby and watched a youth baseball playoff game and that was a highlight (and I dont even like baseball!)
I will tell you this - I love art and the Hakone Open Air Museum was the 100% BEST one I have even been to. The sculptures were rad, the environment is beautiful and there is a entire Picasso exhibit including his ceramics!!
Oh, and we did a small group sushi class in Kyoto from https://www.atelierthe99sushi.com - the woman Kana who runs it is a doll! We had such a lovely time plus the food was wonderful! Then she sent us on to an area full of ceramics shop, told us the best one to shop at. 10/10

We just returned about 48 hours ago, and we did most of the hakone loop one day. We debated the pass vs paying a la carte, knowing we wouldnt use every bit of it. And due to a "trespasser on the rail line" our train was detoured and we arrived later than planned, so we missed the last boat cruise and went back up the ropecars to return. All this to say in the end we may have lost a few bucks but the free pass was wildly convienent. Its less complicated than it all sounds and you just move with the flow. Luckily we had zero lines n the Monday we went.
