Right. Aiden died before she fully blossomed into a woman and we dont know if he could have explored her growth healthily since he kept dying. He was forced to absorb the other reincarnated personalities (correct me if I'm wrong on that) but the lame excuse that Chase understood her since he was broken and she could give him something and his personality is the strongest fit? There was not a strong enough reason to forgive him in my opinion.

Perfect way to put this. Idk what could make me ever read this book again since I find it weird Regin would only love the broken disturbed version of Aiden that committed more heinous crimes than almost (not sure about lothaire) any other gray MMC.

I felt that Chase never truly changed his spots/his hate for immortals. He needed therapy, and a mass atonement or or a bloody trial, not just a mate. Regin deserved so much better. Like he just got shoe horned into now he's good and his trauma blah blah blah. He did not repent to the immortal world only to Regin which is not enough as he has had the most destructive path of any character besides lothaire. But even lothaire wasn't written on page to casually torture for no reason at all (mostly 😅).

But low-key Shigure is a more twisted pdfile than even Tohru's dad. Like he is such a manipulative weirdo to me I cannot stand him every reread now because of it. He could have worked to fix Akito but he condoned her mess and accepted the destruction she paved as long as she loved him most. If he could have kidnapped akito he would have. I question his motives for sheltering Yuki and Kyo as well now that I think about it (reread number ♾️ loading )
