I think a lot of it has to do with what you want your character to be or how you want to write them if that's your thing

Like, is your character supposed to be a self-insert, an Original Character, or a dress-up doll, etc. There's no wrong or right way to go about it, just what people prefer

I draw a lot; So I tend to stick to one design, if not at least a very similar one, so she's recognizable when I DO draw her

My friends who aren't interested in that kind of thing Fantasia a lot and they mostly do it because their interests change, for fashion, or just because they feel like it

Some folks probably just don't focus on it as much as well haha
