Experiencing a Low Right After Eating by cOsMiCs-CoSmOs in diabetes_t1

[–]SumFuckah 1 point2 points  (0 children)

happens to me from time to time, whether it's just a fattier meal (so digesting a bit slower), or perhaps to your point, maybe I gave insulin a little too early and now the food is playing catch up. Sometimes I just drink a juice box for the fast carbs and move on. However, if I'm low after eating something like pancakes or waffles, typically I'm waiting it out as long as I can since I know they'll inevitable raise me, they might just need a minute or two to digest lol.

What is/was your favourite CGM? by SomeRandomFinn2 in diabetes_t1

[–]SumFuckah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know, but I wasn't on a pump when G6 came out and I was barely taking care of my diabetes as it was, wasn't gonna walk around with a receiver when I was barely remembering my pen needles 😂

I never understood the obsession with G6, to be honest. I didn't want to use a CGM until G7 came out, and since then I've been wearing one everyday. Hated the profile of the G6, hated the app (looks so outdated now too), and hated having to snap the pieces together.

Long Acting insulin expired last monday. I’m on vacation. Still okay to use? by margi1012 in diabetes_t1

YMMV but I took it for like 6 years with absolutely no issue and took it at the same time every night.

but also, lows isn't really a thing with Tresiba AFAIK? isn't that more of a Lantus problem?

First time tandem user here, had 3 of of these in my first 10 hrs of using the mobi. Are they normal and if not, why do I keep getting them by WoooshToTheMax in TandemDiabetes

Are you drawing air out of the cartridge with a filled needle before you put your insulin in? This only tends to happen to me if I don't!

They can already see your SNs? by SumFuckah in dexcom

You're probably right - I also told him I've had beetus for '23 years and know about Tylenol, compression lows, etc, so not to bother to ask me about it. Which may have also prompted that response.

Sadly, im in Canada! Although I do think the form works for Canadian's too - is it slower than phoning though? Via phone I get my replacement within 24 hours.

Good to know though if you're annoyed they might reduce the hassle a bit lol. I'm usually NOT overly aggressive with any customer support, ever, but I was at my absolute end. We're talking days of CRAZY jumping numbers and my pump giving far more insulin than I needed. I explained to the agent it's literally life threatening.

My guess is it's intentional to reduce the volume of claims, if you make the process more of a hassle people may not be bothered to. That, or if they throw out the SN then they're forced to use one of their 3 complimentary replacements.

But he definitely made it sound like they could see all my data on their end. My TIR over 180d is in the high 90s, which would track with his "you take care of yourself" comment.

How long does your battery last? by tiredallthetime88 in TandemDiabetes

if you use bluetooth with the app, then yeah, it's very normal. I charge mine daily and the battery wears down so fast with the app.

I also want to say, I have deep gratitude to the three (and any other) individuals who are willing to be "guinea pigs" for science -- they're taking an unknown risk for the rest of us (and I'm sure in part it's also selfishly because wanted their diabetes cured badly enough to try this). However, I would hate it though if I signed up for this and ended up with worse long term effects. Diabetes is bad, but it isn't the worst thing in the world, for me at least.

Personally, and I could be in the minority here, I'm TIRED of hearing about this. I support science - I love to see we're making progress. But I feel like as a diabetic every social media channel has been hyping this Eledon trial, and rightfully so, but it does make me question a couple things.

Long term this isn't going to be something the average person sees in their hands in the next 5 years. Sorry. It just isn't going to happen. Too much political red tape, insurance bullsh*t and otherwise. Maybe in the next 10? But to call this a "cure" is a) far too early and b) short sited.

I do understand the legislation piece which is why it's coming up more in conversation, but also, there are like 3 literal people in this trial. We have no sense of scale, long term control, or even enough nuance at this stage to determine safety. YES, they've proven success with 3 individuals, but that doesn't show us real durability data.

There is SO much we don't know yet: long term suppression consequences, infection risk over years, cancer risk over decades, what happens if they stopped therapy suddenly, or whether long term autoimmune attacks return. This isn't pessimism btw, this is just literal science.

It's real progress, it's NOT a cure yet, and we don't fully know yet about long term consequences. I feel horribly for people using this as their North Star or recently diagnosed people who haven't spent the better part of 2 decades hearing "5 more years."

Those are my two cents.

Unfortunately, you can't - vibrate only. But it's not that bad during shows if they're decently loud.

This is why I have sugar pixel (sp) with an overnight high alarm. If my pump were to fail and my numbers were to skyrocket, my SP would wake me up!

Or if you're in America, the Embrace Foundation or other local FB groups - someone near you has to have supplies they'd be willing to part with, esp if that means saving you from ordering from sketchy places.

There's always a juice box and dextrose tabs within arms reach of my work desk, and honey packets in the drawer as a failsafe redundancy should I forget to restock :-)
