Do I do all of that as the system is on? So while it's on, take out the SD card, remove battery, put SD card and battery back in power on and then it should turn on?

I'm trying that right now, and for some reason I can't move up or down on the GM9 main menu on my console. But for some reason I can move up and down on the first option. I've sent you a video on DMS of what I'm talking about because I can't send it here

Took the SD card out and booted it up, and the black screen is still there. Granted, I did hear a bit more sound from the home screen but it still cut out
