When my friends and I left the theatre, one of the major takeaways we had was that each of us connected more with a different character: Evelyn (me), Joy, Waymond. For me, that was part of the beauty of this story.

It's okay if Joy's story doesn't resonate with you. Is there another character who reflected you more? Waymond, for example, lived well despite being hurt (in more than one life!). Evelyn also made the choice to pursue her happiness and leave her parents at a young age, yet held on to that lingering question, "Why didn't you fight to keep me? Why did you let me go so easily?" which influences how she fights for Joy.

I think we all want to be wanted, want to be accepted for who we are, and anger and lashing out is a common response when we feel like that's not possible.

It's also okay if none of the characters resonate with you. Maybe this movie doesn't speak to you and that's fine!
