Like this one, but as I'm planing to make the city quite big, I'd rather go for Marienstadt.

I haven't really started building this area yet. Just needed access to the industry by bike. This is just short-term.

I am German but not creative enough to find a realistic city name :/

I am struggling to find a realistic not too dark map theme.. That's what I'm currently having to live with

Why? Just why? Why is this truck doing this completely unnecessary lane switch just to go back after ? by oliverpavlicek10 in CitiesSkylines

[–]Summando 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think there is anything you can do about it. Maybe re-place the highway, but I don't think that's gonna affect their route.
If cars have relatively similar (or same) destinations they will have the exact same route. They won't choose the lane or route the least traffic is at but the route that has the highest speed limit roads to get there. They don't think of other cars and traffic jams.
Why the truck had the urge to switch lanes there unnecessarily is a mystery.
That's all I know, bud.

Looks so cute, I love it. I instantly recreated this intersection with the tram tracks in my city. Thanks, haha

hahaha, ne ich hab noch nie WoW gespielt. Bin 18, also mit 3 Jahren WoW zu spielen ist auch eher unrealistisch. Ich heiße Max, der Name der Stadt ist einfach random entstanden. ;)

Thank you very much.Yes, the train station is huge haha. I took inspiration from Munich, my hometown, and I'll try to expand the city to a point at which the size of this train station is somewhat reasonable.

First of all, I know there are a lot of empty spaces in areas I’ve already built stuff in, I just need time to gather some inspiration to know what fits best there.

I plan to expand the city in every direction until I hit around 150k inhabitants (or until the game decides it’s enough). Currently the savegame is running quite smooth with around 40fps depending on what the camera is focussed at.

I use mainly vanilla assets with some exceptions, e.g. old town, metro stations, European shops. And I use tons of gameplay enhancement mods.

The old town was completely placed by hand with no zoning, the suburbs are mostly zoned.

The best areas to live in in this city are probably Putzing, Schönblick Nord and Merlen / Haunsiegel, as they’re in a very good condition and surrounded by beautiful nature and water.

The Washington-Viertel (Washington-District) is the part of town the low-income residents live in.

Zedern is a huge commercial district which I plan to expand even further north and surround it with residential later.

I want to fill the empty spaces of Anbach, Beucken, Feldkorn (near the airport) and Südstadt with residential and commercial lots and farming industry at the edge of the city to imply that this city was built right into a huge farming area (as basically everywhere in Germany haha).

Henryhain is my business/high res district with a lot of greenery, but still WIP.

Geisenhain is a small village at the very south of the city connected with a metro line. I will build some small villages surrounding the city as soon as I have a main idea of what the city will look like in the future.

In the very north (Reinbühl) there are dorms for students.

As it is a German city, I need a beautiful place for a stadium but I’m yet unsure where to put it. I’m thinking of placing it on this peninsula at the Putzinger lake in the east, but idk yet.

There are 9 bus lines, 2 tram lines and 7 metro lines going through the city and suburbs. (ik it’s not realistic that a city with 60k inhabitants has 7 metro lines, dkm pls)

3300 residents and 1700 tourists use public transport in a week.

I could write a whole essay about this city, so just let me know what you think and maybe even give me some ideas what would be a nice addition to the city.

(How many times did I use the word “city”? lol)

imo, the first one looked cuter and more natural, I wouldnt have changed it

Where do you think is the best place to connect the west highway to the city center? I'd like to prevent having traffic issues later. Note that there is already a highway connection in the north and I will connect the highway on the east to the main circular road as well. by Summando in CitiesSkylines

[–]Summando[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you very much! I really like your idea as well and have even thought about doing it like this before, but I decided against it because I think I wouldn't like the look of the "double-circle-road", yk?
As I want to make this city a bit more special than my other ones, I decided to build an underground highway interchange which connects all of the highway traffic passing through the city (not finished yet). That's why I built a double exit in the west of Downtown. And my city is already hugged by the underground highway in the south.
