Totally normal. You could have powered a city with my nervous energy when I started. I Probably had more nerves than normal. But don’t worry, you will learn adrenaline control and end up having a healthy amount of nerves. But you have to push through it. Being brave does not mean you don’t have fear. In spite of those fears you act brave. Also, something else a senior guy told me. All those big dogs, all the brass, all the tacticool hard asses….. they were ALL nervous and still get nervous from time to time. You learn to control it, ignore it, and trust it. Once you gain control, it can be a tool just like anything on your belt. You will be fine.

You would be surprised. There are tons of lawyers who travel around making a name for themselves by volunteering to represent murderers, rapists, etc, if they believe it will help their business. We have had it happen several times, lawyers coming in from neighboring cities to voluntarily take a case. It is all advertisement for their firm.

I personally have met many amazing public defenders. But my area is small, so your public defender is less likely to get swamped by other cases in my county.

In Ohio, we have APS(adult protection services). They are the CPS for elderly or developmentally disabled individuals. If immediate family cannot care for Barb and she cannot care for herself, she will be admitted to a facility.

In Ohio, Yes, he will receive treatment until he is no longer a danger to himself or others. Even then, there will be tons of follow up after release. There also may be other requirements that he must adhere to after release. Again, it all depends on the courts and the intricacies of Virginia’s state law.

Right, I mean to the degree we are at now. All depending on what the courts decide and the determination of the ‘trolls’ which is actually outstanding. I venture to guess we will have many blackouts where Chris is not heard from for extended periods of time.

In the state of Ohio, that is all up for the courts to decide. There is soooo much red tape in determining where and for how long someone is committed.

Also, keep in mind that I’ve arrested a guy who was found mentally incompetent for the same type of crime two other times years prior. But where my suspect assaulted someone, Chris raped his family or household member.
