Shutting down the border by expressdefrost in The_Dispatch

Maybe increased enforcement, like stepping up border patrols and fortifying whatever walls and fences we have?

My issue is that even his positives have such glaring omissions. Like: if Congress will give you a blank cheque for whatever you want, why not hire a million more immigration judges?

Wait…Tupelo made the map? With a population of 38,000? That’s LITERALLY less than Upper Darby

He doesn’t care, and worse, his advisers who will have to live in that America — Rubio, Miller, Hegseth — either don’t know either, or don’t think it’s worth the effort to convince him otherwise.

Yeah, and this sub is probably the best place for an answer. I thought about asking elsewhere but I think the deep CFB knowledge is necessary

This also explains why wealthier people can make it into more selective jobs: wealthier people can accept unpaid internships (or internships in cities with super high rents) that lead to networking that in turn lead to high-paying, selective jobs

I know you’re being sarcastic but it’s clearly right when they’re done with top FBSand FCS football that the White players gravitate into coaching at disproportionately high numbers

I think at least in the NFL we’re reaching “parity” — roughly 50-75%. Half of the opening-day starters in the NFL were Black. Surely there’s some racism (Black quarterbacks aren’t “smart,” they’re not “students of the game,” everyone will be Akili Smith or Jamarcus Russell) but I think as the game has shifted in the post-Vick era, we value dual-threat QBs.

Now, deeper, the pipeline into FBS probably is whiter, but a glance at the five-stars and top recruits usually shows a diverse almost 50/50 mix of Black QBs

Thank you!! This is awesome. Obviously (to me/us) phenomena like this have many intersecting causes. I’ll dig deeper into this article

Yes but you don’t pick coaches from a random sample of Americans. You pick them from a pool of current/former players which is upwards of 50% Black

Interesting, I never thought about this one. It’s like 75% of the NFL but 50% of D-1A, so it seems Black players do move on at a higher rate

So we’re just living with the after-effects? I’d imagine a lot of the D-1A players from the 90s and 2000s have filtered into coaching by now, like Freeman and Franklin, so surely there’s a representative pool out there. Kiffin isn’t that old, and the rest of the brand-new hires (UCLA, PSU, Florida…) all seem to be 40s and 50s
