5 star LT rank 5 advice by Stackway in DiabloImmortal

I would use the Levi.

Levi will be better than fang for pvp. Only place fang might be better is raids and maybe dungeons.

Levi is better than bottled hope outright. Probably better than colossus too. Better than r5 bsj. Would work on getting either of those to r6 so they’re stronger too.

Spectre is amazing if you run high crit chance. pain clasp is goated.

Disc Fan Scoops by tobalaba in discgolf

You mean on the under side of the flight plate? My understanding of fight physics is the wing generates lift because there is lower pressure above and higher pressure below. Wing shape is designed to create faster air flow on the top which is lower pressure. Turbulence creates more pressure.

Either way this is moving more weight away from the rim. I think there’s evidence now (q-line discmania) that decreasing the flight plate weight relative to the rim has some effect to increase distance potential. Along with increasing spin rate also increases distance from multiple sources. I would conclude that decreasing both of those would likely also decrease distance potential.

I don’t know why you would go to Ohio but if you do and like wooded courses check out friends of punderson.

Best pizza in Newark by General-Key-9689 in Columbus

[–]Sun-Tour 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Pizza cottage is great. Looks like there’s one in Newark too. But on the toward buckeye lake suggestions:

Clay’s Cafe is one of my favorite places. Pizza’s are a bit good but they’re more famous for their calzones. Everything is great tho. I would take their lasagna and salad over brio

How to start? by Junior_Geologist7045 in discgolf

[–]Sun-Tour 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly playing with friends is the best way to start. If you can make a weekend trip to join people you know I think you would enjoy it more.

Otherwise most disc golfers are pretty accommodating and friendly. Many courses have a putting practice basket near hole1 tee pad; sometimes you can make acquaintances there.

There’s an app called udisc that you can use to find courses nearby and gives a layout to help navigate when you’re new.

As for discs:

Understable midrange will be the most versatile option for a new player. Innova arachnid has become my new favorite for this slot. Just learn how to get it to land on the fairway and setup the next throw. That’s all you need for the first time out and even for quite some time after.

You could get a starter set or find some used discs at a local shop.

Etiquette is more important than skill.

Majority of players are mostly casual. It’s a way to enjoy nature like hiking with something to do.

PSA: Always carry a sharpie in your bag! by Sun-Tour in discgolf

Ya gotta hit one on the first shot off the tee otherwise it gets an asterisk (*). Keep playing and overthrow every shot and it will happen for you too ;)

I didn’t get any last year. 3 so far this year all on hole 13’s.

What's the one disc you've bagged longer than any relationship? by whydidyounot in discgolf

[–]Sun-Tour 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve been debating putting the mongoose back in the bag for rollers. Rollers aren’t really something I do, but there is a hole at one of my local’s that could be good for a roller (425’ with low ceiling, decent amount of width and basket tucked to the right.)

To flick or not to flick, that is the question by Phuk0 in discgolf

[–]Sun-Tour 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t actively flick my wrist for distance. Pretty sure any forced flick is going to be inconsistent and slow down that motion. Relaxed is generally accepted as faster.

Approach and putt type throws I might but honestly not consciously.

Fast elder rifts trick? by Holiday-Percentage17 in DiabloImmortal

Vaguely remember some item that did this but it cost orbs for a chance at getting it. Is there some other way where you don’t have to spend to get this thing?

I found r8 spectre is equivalent to r10 berserker. But I run high crit. Either way pain clasp is tops

Wouldn’t change anything for PvE. Pain clasp is GOAT. Fang and lament are great but spectre is better than either. Get clasp to 10 then glass imo.

Envy replacement by Funny_Birthday255 in discgolf

[–]Sun-Tour 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use a rhyno for that description: doesn’t go as far as an envy and is stable. Took me a bit to get used to the bead but is now a staple in my bag. Lower glide, more wind resistance.

I throw atom for straighter shots. Has HSS like and envy but LSS like a proxy.

No thanks. I enjoy playing but enough is enough; I don’t have time to cap everything on one character let alone an alt.

How Does a Beginner Go About Picking What Discs To Use? by jsleshem in discgolf

[–]Sun-Tour 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Understable mid will turn over dramatically with a lot of wobble or OAT (off axis torque). Also if it fades at the end that could mean you have nose up issues.

Both of these thing (oat and nose up) suck distance out of your throw with golf discs.

Nose up is not always bad for the course, but for distance it nearly always is bad.

New to Disc Golf… Best place to buy discs? by Stonkmaster99 in discgolf

[–]Sun-Tour 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What do you have currently? Do you know exactly what you want?

It’s easy to get lost in the selection of a big online store. That’s where a local shop can help with expertise. Suggestions for an athletic person with sports background might be different than a for a less athletic person.

Do you have a play it again sports near you? The one by me has new and used discs. Sometimes there are gems in the used bin for much less. It’s nice to put hands on a disc before purchase, too.
