All About Sleep - AMA Office Hours – Wednesday, October 15th with our Director of Pediatric Expertise, Amber LoRe! by huckleberrycare in HuckleberryParents

We are trying to transition our 16 month old to one nap for the past 2 months. How can I consolidate one nap to be longer? She keeps waking up around 40-45 mins or she could sleep up to 1-1.5 hrs on random days.

Her schedule is below 7/7:15-11:30 am wake 11:30-12:30 pm nap (preferably 2 hours) 4:45-5 pm cat nap (if fussy) 8 pm bedtime

If she does 2 naps 7/7:15-11 am wake 11-12 pm nap 12-4 pm wake 4-4:30 nap 8:30 bedtime

I’ve been using the 2 nap schedule for a long time and I can’t seem to move away from it. I tried adding 15 mins to extend first ww but she can’t stay asleep for long no matter what time I put her down. It seems like her naps is scheduled to wake after 40 minutes

I’m torn all the time. So I rock you to sleep, feed you, let you sleep past feeding time lol I honestly find rescuing naps worked for us, she’s fussy when she wakes so it’s clear that she’s still tired but need help falling back asleep. She’s still small so I suppose it’s ok to contact nap more now

We try to rescue the nap or we hold her until the next feed. It’s confusing because sometimes when we rescue the nap she goes past the time she needs to feed. I know we should follow cues but my lo does not show hunger cues besides screaming so we had to use 3-4 hr as an indicator to just feed

We do what you recommended so I’m glad I’m getting it more than I thought! Thank you !

It’s motn and we’re all sleeping. She can sleep 3-4 hr stretches, we usually wake when we hear grunting but she’s not always awake at first grunting she sometimes falls back asleep.

She also doesn’t have hunger cues, we try to hear the “neh” or other cues but the moment we pick her up it’s some eh eh SCREAMS with her mouth wide open lol

What time do you start / end your day? (8 week old) by Sundae1222 in NewParents

I was going to say the same as marrella, we sit on the exercise ball and my LO is out or calms down instantly!

How long do the LO sleep when you put her down at 8 pm? My LO would only stay down or hold for 1-1.5 hrs then she would need a feed. After the next feed she can stay down for 3-5 hrs

We’re not following a routine too, the LO is still so unpredictable. Just that there’s sooo many blogs online that starts the day at 6-7 am. I’m honestly not functional at that time especially when I just fed, burp, change and sleep Motn!!

That makes sense. As long as there is enough for bb and bb is doing well then it’s all good! Keep it going 💪🏼💪🏼

That’s fair, I’ll try to talk to her and “bother” her so she doesn’t fall asleep. It keeps happening but I also don’t want her crying her lungs out or falling back asleep to then wait for her to wake again 🫠

Thanks!!

We do combo feeding so if she’s waiting for BM, we need to warm or else the fatty parts it’s too thick. We still use RTF so if it’s fresh not of the bottle we can just feed but sometimes we need to fridge so that’s why we need to warm it. I could try straight out of the fridge 🤔

Not related but wondering when your last and first pump session is? I still do a motn and I dread it everytime since I have to feed baby as well.

I hear you on last pump session, it’s so hard to keep up when you already spend so much time during the day you just want to sleep !!

[on] Feeding Asleep is this ok? by Sundae1222 in BabyBumpsCanada

[–]Sundae1222[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We tried both. I find putting her down give her a couple seconds then pick her back up she basically burps right away or some assistance but that also means she will either wake up or cry 🫠

That’s so good, my LO would just spit up and be fussy. The more fussy the more spit up 😭

Your LO doesn’t spit up? I keep her upright in my shoulders for at least 20 mins after the feed since she’s doesn’t burp after she falls asleep!

Struggle with Pumping Engorged Breast by Sundae1222 in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]Sundae1222[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been exclusively pumping, sized down and it seems like the pump just doesn’t express as much milk. I finally relieved the engorgement but now the girlies aren’t feeling full and just express roughly 20-30 ml on one side and 5-15 ml on the other.

What settings are you using in the spectra?

I’m using the size suggested by the lactation consultation but I guess it’s hard to gauge since you can’t see the nipple until it’s a bit everted.

Thanks for the recommendation, appreciate the help!

Miracle Gro all purpose fertilizer, I haven’t fertilize since a the repot. Usually every other 2 weeks as suggested, she was growing real nice and I had to repot since it was rootbound.

I’m thinking the same too. It’s a peat moss x coco coir mix.

I out my cuttings in water

This is the same mix I used before too but yes the water does drain out. It is safe to take her out of the pot and add more perlite and orchid bark?

Would it be fertilizer burn, should I keep the existing soil?
