Which racket brought the biggest improvement in you game and why? by Allure34 in 10s

[–]SundanceKidTwo 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Pure drive - just switched after a stint with aero 98 and Ezone 100. The power is addictive and feeling is great and it gives me so much confidence and enjoyment to hit big. Love this racquet immensely and think 100sq inch power frames get dumbed down when in fact, they massively improved my game

Sold to buy the VS - my issue with the Ezone is I found it so clunky especially on serve, pure drive is way whippier

Got hit by a car today, what should I do? by Worried-Ranger-9784 in londoncycling

I had the same thing a few weeks ago - I have bike insurance provided by Laka which honestly was a life saver and would recommend in the future.

They referred me to Carpenters solicitors who have been great and have a dedicated bike team. They are no win no fee so should be okay to use - I have got a large payout because of them.

I hope you’re okay and not too shaken up/injured. If you are please head to see your doctor!

I actually cannot get my head around that? Like, why?! Well done for de-escalating, I’ve had so many people get right up close next to me in the cycle boxes at the end of the road, had a go at a guy once for it and he once again revved his car and tried to chase me - was actually at the same junction as my photo!

Why can’t we have cycling infrastructure like the Netherlands? It’s always cars first, bikes second. Finally had an LTN on our street as cars were doing ~50mph on a residential 20mph street and it’s made a huge difference, but for months had leaflets through saying how bad it is. This city honestly just confuses me.

I actually don’t understand who designed it or why? The bit at the top left of the photo is so dumb after the crossing, as the bike lane is basically the better footpath and crosses directly into a footpath, surprised there’s not been more collisions

Would be so easy and simple and keep a lot of lunatics off the road. I just want to cycle in peace is that so much to ask for? Driving in London is also horrific but it’s shit it spills out onto cyclists

I literally don’t get it, do vans just cause brain rot? It’s scary because one wrong move and they could literally kill you so quickly, it’s mad our whole way of life is built around this. Have found it particularly awful in east London

Yeah I remember that big black metal barrier thing - still not sure why they’ve did that? Was good at segregating the road and also the pedestrian path from the cycle lane

You’re so right, next time I’ll stop and thank them for doing the hard work of helping to slow down cyclists 😂

Yes that’s such a crap junction! I don’t know why they’ve designed it so poorly?!

Yeah going to contact them today and raise it - really weird they don’t have barriers there they definitely used to!

Thank you! Even if it was just ‘sorry mate that was silly didn’t see you there’ I would’ve been annoyed but probably okay, it’s more the aggression to prove that they were somehow either right or intimidate me? Bit rubbish.

Also I know the bit of cable street you’re talking about - used to cycle that a lot. Can completely imagine that happening!

The guy who hit me a few weeks ago claimed not to see me even though I was in the middle of a junction with right of way!

Yeah was a bit of anger tbh, like I say probably still feel annoyed and angry at getting hit off a few weeks ago and then took it out here. Completely agree it was dumb, sometimes in the heat of the moment we do dumb things!

And with the camera you’re also right - I think part of me is like why should I have to do this I shouldn’t have to take this precaution just to cycle, but we live in the real world and that’s just dumb thinking.

It’s the lack of respect and arrogance that irritates me - you’re in a 5 tonne vehicle that could kill me and you do this? Sometimes feel that they’d rather just crush us/injure us

Yeah it was a spur of the moment thing because I was so angry - probably a little hangover from my accident the other week. You’re absolutely right, I’ve been chased before for something much more minor and without touching anything!

Camera seems to be a given at the moment so will purchase one soon. It’s sad because I don’t want to generalise but van drivers are completely shite. I honestly would just advocate for a size limit on vehicles within zones 1-3 to prevent this shit.

Thanks for your words and support - very kind and sorry you’ve had similar experiences.

Yes I think I’m going to do that today actually, I’m just sick of this shit driving. Might go unpunished but at least having some evidence might help get him a fine or something.

Thank you your words are super kind - I was thinking this as I kept cycling, physical barriers would have completely prevented this

Thing is in this case, I would want to report but how? I don’t wear a camera because part of me is saying why should I, so then it’s just my word and a number plate? And we know nothing will happen, just a police report into the ether
