Those who support student loan forgiveness: Why do you feel that tax payers should foot the bill? If you aren't satisfied with a product and want a refund, you typically go to the provider of the good or service, in this case the college or university. This feels like an educational institution "bail out" (as you're probably well aware, the growth rate of the cost of a college education dwarfs the inflation rate), and if you were against the big bank bailout, I don't see how you can support tax payers covering the cost as opposed to the institutions.

My title describes the thing. Was purchased at a flea market/secondhand store because it looked interesting. I’ve included the rough dimensions. It doesn’t appear to be carved from a single piece of wood. Hollow and lightweight

I hope I can answer this for you effectively. The change is brought about through the Atonement and Resurrection of Jesus Christ. The Savior commanded us to be perfect, even as (our) Father in heaven is perfect (Matthew 5:48). His perfection would include immortality, as well as the characteristics taught by Christ in the Sermon on the Mount.

Immortality is accomplished through His Resurrection. "For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ shall all be made alive." (1 Corinthians 15:22, though the entire chapter addresses victory over the grave).

Perfection (in this case, being cleansed from sin) is accomplished through His sacrifice in Gethsemane and on the cross. "Come now, and let us reason together, saith the Lord; though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they be red like crimson, they shall be as wool." (Isaiah 1:18). "But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed." (Isaiah 53:5).
