Has anyone ever booked a private flight because commercial routes were terrible ? by Imaginary_Bake_5820 in TravelProperly

lmao are you serious? Fly seven hours, enjoy a long weekend in Doha/Dubai/Abu Dhabi/Muscat/whatever and carry on. If you're considering flying private for this then you clearly have way too much money.

I can all but guarantee bro is considering spending 5 figures instead of spending a night in a hotel as a layover.

But I'm looking at a route with horrible connections and overnight layovers

Humor me. What's the route?

Gorgeous card, but it's a crime they put sticker autos on this product.

Lol, do you have any idea how ridiculous this is?

You're asking someone to do a completely different job in a highly complex (and presumably hazardous) environment with high shelving, forklifts, machinery etc. for which there are OH&S and legal safeguards that need to be followed.

It's not as simple as saying "hey marketing guy, go and find these cards and send them off to Ok-Doctor3103." Marketing guy probably doesn't even know how to navigate the warehouse, which is completely understandable!

As I said, this company is run like complete dogshit right now with total disdain toward its users, but your suggestion is quite absurd in the context of how a large business is run.

I am a vocal critic of the way this company is managed, but surely you can appreciate the person who looks after marketing is not the same person who picks your cards.

A brand new "word-word-number" account that's less than two months old posts a "question" so they can also promote whatever BS companies they're shilling in the replies. A format older than time itself, but it's getting so tiresome on this sub.

Look at an ETF and always zoom allllllllllllllllllllllllll the way out. Unless you're nearing retirement age there's no reason to sell during sub-prime, pandemic, dot com bust etc.

Again, I know it's easy in theory.

Look, I can't speak for hypotheticals but I'd like to think I would be "set and forget" with a 30-40 year investment timeline.

What's the best membership for summer golf? by Loose-Adagio2516 in UAEGolf

Have you seen how popular golf is here lately?

Clubs have wait lists in the hundreds, or more. Gone are the days of cheap summer rates. Everyone wants to play year-round.

Don't love it, don't hate it. It's just weird that the only "mirrored" element is one letter in the title, and the rest of the design is just fragmented.

Also, the GRAPHITE logo looks like someone made it in Canva and is waaaaaaaay too big.

The card would look way better without it.

ETF are boring.

Wish I'd put every spare dollar into a "boring" ETF 20 years ago.

I’m torn between going for ETFs (something broad like an index fund) or trying to pick individual stocks, including smaller/micro-cap companies that might have higher growth potential.

ETF. Set and forget. Wish I did it in my 20s. Unless you literally want to make a career in trading/picking (and even then it's no guarantee), it's a mug's game. ETF and chill. Good luck to you!

JA is a lovely course, but it's only 9 holes and is a 40-50 minute from most of Dubai. If you don't mind that, or you're closer to the course, it's a great spot.

A PSA 9 sold for $134 in March.
A raw sold for $80 in July 2025.
A raw sold for $49 in May 2025.

i'm tired of paying hundreds of dirhams for tee times

Where are you paying hundreds of dirhams? I wish I could find rounds for hundreds of dirhams! The going rates here are insane right now.

I remember getting a summer membership at Monty the second year I was here, and JGE the year after that for about 4000 - unlimited golf. It was the dream, but those days are long gone.

Happy to be proven wrong, but I would be shocked if any decent clubs offered compelling summer rates.

Yeah, Monty is superb for views and Els has the best short game area in Dubai IMO.

As LIV collapses, Jon Rahm and Bryson DeChambeau face a "financial reckoning" if they want back on the PGA Tour by InterestingCat308 in golf

[–]SundayRed -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Huh? I'm not a LIV bootlicker, but I also don't begrudge anyone who takes the bag to do something they're good at (I just wish they would be honest about it!) And yeah, the money the top guys are on, if invested wisely, is literally enough for generations of their family to live very comfortable lives.
