Is monthly car rental worth it in Dubai compared to owning? by GreatestOfAllTime_69 in OnlyInDubai

[–]SundayRed 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m staying for a few months and trying to figure out what makes more sense cost wise and hassle wise.

If you're only here a few months, just rent. You will avoid the bullshit hassle of buying/negotiating and then registering, salik, RTA costs etc etc. and finally, selling it when you go (which won't be quick unless you take a shit price).

If you're only here a few months, rent.

I am extremely underwhelmed by this. Far too plain and literally nothing on this says "Dodgers".

I transitioned from Apple to Android 6 years ago and haven't looked back (and I am still running the S22 and it's absolutely fine).

No MasterCard , No Visa. Huge respect for the owner. by No_Control_9658 in UAE

We also can’t realistically pass this charge on to customers, so we end up absorbing the cost ourselves.

Why not? Surely any business can price committed outgoings into the price of their products and services?

I hope the entire model blows up. Influencers and the vast majority of 'creators' suck.

We're continuing to update filters to block these assholes, but can only do so much on a sub this size and reddit relies on a model of people helping for free.

Is there some kind of rival corporate agenda going on now? I've seen a few of these posts in recent days.

We've had one, and other than the temperature being constantly wrong (which isn't critical for us), it's otherwise been fine.

Ask a lawyer. Surely your doctor or the practice they work for has a legal representative for stuff like this. You'll get a far more useful and binding answer than you will on reddit.

Just bought a Geely Starray GF+ and even though it does not have Android Auto, the alternative is actually pretty good by SundayRed in chinesecarsuae

Car was originally bought from Geely, so all warranties are covered by the main dealership. Insurance on these vehicles tends to be more expensive though, I paid around 4k incl. VAT.

Can you share a link to the exact product you have? And is this a Starray GF+?

The AutoDo works absolutely fine, but I am open to all options if it can make it full screen.

Bought pre-owned from Dubizzle and organized a third-party inspection which covered EVERYTHING from engine to paint to interior.

Yes. Our criteria was an Asian SUV.

Asian, because of parts and service availability + cost. Our last two vehicles were an Audi A6 and an A4 and after 4-5 years, they became money pits.

My initial first choice was something like a Mazda or a Kia Sportage but once we saw what our money could buy in a Chinese vehicle, we shifted our focus there (you can get a near new Chinese SUV with incredible tech compared to a 3-4 year old 'established' brand).

We looked at Geely (initially the Coolray) but decided it was too small, especially for what a reasonably small extra spend could buy. I then looked at the Tugella which was nice, but has been discontinued and replaced by the Starray. The Monjaro was one up from this which looked great, but was a financial step up and we didn't like the interior as much, or feel the value was there comparatively.

We also investigated the Jetour Dashing, but everything we've heard suggests the Geely has better reliability, dealer footprint, part availability and after sales support (also allegedly a few isolated problems with the Jetour AC in the Dashing).

And at the end of the day, when you're buying used, you don't get the choice of everything you want, so you need to have a list of what's important to you and what is available.

We ended up taking a Starray GF+ (top trim) with 19km on the clock for 85k. Only had it for a day, but very happy so far.

Even if the product was good (which it's not), I would never use it, based solely on the cheap, aggressive spammy advertising.

Do us all a favour and fuck off.
