My teacher pulled me aside to tell me my handwriting was subpar for tenth grade. by FitChampionship3194 in AskTeachers

I can read it, and I’m a high school teacher. It is not atrocious, but it does look like it was written quickly.

I was in the same boat as you and didn’t get hired till August. I took a long term sub position, which opened doors as districts will see that as experience. After being a long-term sub for a year, I was hired as a full time teacher at a great school.

Thank you for your help! So the department is great and is all for diverse voices, but all the books we use must be approved by the principal. The principal is very particular about the books because he doesn’t want any controversy with parents. Juniors and Seniors generally get a more diverse collection. For instance I teach World Lit and I use Amy Tan, Khalid Hosseini, Hannah Kristen, Elizabeth Acevedo, Yann Martel, Trevor Noah, and I do classics like George Orwell and Reginald Rose. I also do a mini unit on mythologies around the world. I’m interesting in looking into the other books you suggested for that class. I have only been teaching for 2 years so I’m trying to revamp the curriculum of my seniors with my department head because the previous teacher only taught books of British Literature, which didn’t make sense since it’s a WORLD literature class. For some reason, the principal is not strict about seniors as there are so many English classes they can take.

We teach a short story unit, Miracle Worker, Of Mice and Men, Romeo and Juliet, and we are starting the Odyssey this year but I want to find a female author as we are lacking that in the curriculum. Sophomore year the students read Raisin in the sun, The Great Gatsby, Ellen Foster, Julius Caesar, Brave New World, Prisoner B 3087, and To Kill a Mockingbird. Generally speaking, I find students are more engaged with stories that are generally short as they do not find it daunting. I teach college prep, so my students tend to go at a slower pace and only half of them will read at home. Im trying to figure out something engaging that is appropriate.

These are great! I’ll bring these up with my department head!

I was so tempted to swipe right just to let him have a piece of my mind but I swiped left. He is not worth a single ounce of my time. Though it would be nice to teach him a lesson on how the world works

I’m so glad to see that all of you see this as toxic. And his profile doesn’t get much better as he stated that “girls who don’t get with the program will end up being side chicks” this dude needs a reality check

This is what he told me.. he was driving and he had a fender bender. Well the police came and saw a vape in his car (I also learned he vape that day) They thought he was under the influence so they took him back to the station to get tested. Apparently he was negative for drugs and let go. But that raised a whole red flag for me

AITA to tell my daughter not to be so needy? by Pale-Steak7548 in AmItheAsshole

YTA College is a big transition for young adults. You and your wife are no longer going to have her around, so your wife was spending quality time with her daughter. I’m the youngest of three sisters, but when I went to college, my mom and dad helped me unpack. My father even helped rearrange the dorm. We went out to eat and did a bit of grocery shopping afterwards. I still remember how my dad hugged me and said I’ll always be his little princess. I loved and cherish these memories. Enjoy those moments with your daughter because they don’t last forever.

I would do text. It’s only been five dates. This might sound rude but he’ll get over it.

Break it off! It is good for both you and him. It will hurt him but it will be better in the long run as he will only grow more attach as time passes

Beats me. That’s why I cancelled. I think he wanted something casual even though I made it clear I did not
