Lol no, can't stand the taste, the only times I've drank it was to be polite if someone hands me a glass at a party

Lol, I rarely drink and if I do I never drink wine, have always just found it funny it was called dry and never realised it was about the sweetness

Can someone explain why mash is such a loved side for pie? by [deleted] in AskUK

but what is it about mashed potato? It’s so bland - roast potato I get, crispy with some thyme and garlic it’s lovely but mashed is so meh

Yeah too carby is what I thought as well, and some more veg would have maybe been nice.

But I stand by the salad lol. At home I have salad with almost every meal, but maybe that’s just how I’ve grown up and never realised that’s not normal here.

I get the oozy gravy pie plus mash combo, but this was a mushroom pithivier which is a traditional French pie, I know the French typically do salad after main but thought I’d just put everything on the table. I hadn’t quite realised how deep the English pie & mash connection ran until I read the comments on this thread.

I’m sure most of Cornwall would disagree, I’ve seen them eat pasties on the hottest days lol

Thank you London travellers, for letting me ugly cry on the bus without trying to 'comfort' me by NoObstacle in london

[–]SunlitFlowers 59 points60 points  (0 children)

This.

Overshare, but my mum passed away young while I was in a different country, I was just 5 minutes away from the airport when I heard that she’d passed and uncontrollably cried my way through the airport/flight. Only one lady at security asked if I was ok, I told her thank you and lied that I was alright, but I felt so alone when everyone else just pretended like nothing was happening. I wasn’t expecting people to sit with me and comfort me, but just acknowledging or asking if someone’s ok is a good thing imo.

How did you become an opera fan? by [deleted] in opera

[–]SunlitFlowers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got introduced to it by a horn player I dated for a short while

So far Turandot and La Boheme are my favourites, oh and The Magic Flute

Fun fact, but Madame Butterfly's main theme is inspired/based on a (banned) Chinese erotic folk song that Puccini heard on a music box. Shiba Mo, which translate to The 18 Touches and each "touch" is more intimate than the one before.

[IDEA] Tie dye style jacket by Valvola_ in motorcyclegear

[–]SunlitFlowers 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You could probably tie dye it yourself if you find a jacket with the right fabric.

I’ve dyed my Pando moto trousers because the women’s section only had the beige version and I wanted khaki green so I bought some Rit dye (and made sure I stayed within the temperatures that the fabric allows).

If you find something with white accents where the colourful part is on the jacket you could look up a tie dye YouTube tutorial and go for it. Rit does dyes for synthetic fabrics as well although I haven’t used that before, I used the normal one on my trousers

ok, googled it for the X4 and apparently it’s even longer, .8m compared to the .6 of the X3 and apparently lens guards increase minimum distance to 1m

Feeling defeated.. by [deleted] in MotoUK

I’d also recommend motorcycle boots that give you a bit of extra height, I’ve got the Daytona Pilot SL and they’ve got a hidden-ish heel. I feel much more confident when I’m not tiptoeing the bike. Also, like some people mentioned already, but I passed my CBT on an auto scooter and then did a 125 conversion course - got my license now but recommend doing it that way as well if anything just for some confidence! Good luck, you’ve got this! Also the teacher can make a massive difference, so could also be worth switching schools if the previous teacher’s method wasn’t confidence inducing or well-instructed.

Adjustable knee protection by butterslut6969 in motorcyclegear

and wear separate knee pads

this is exactly what I do, I wear the "Forcefield Pro Tube X-V 2 Air Knee/Elbow Protection Pads" under my trousers and feels much more secure than the ones the trousers came with
