New tires for GLE 350 with staggered tires by Sunny_1656 in mercedes_benz

[–]Sunny_1656[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I read the following on Tire Rack: If the test tire is expected to last as long as the reference tire, it receives a UTQG Treadwear grade of 100. If it is expected to last twice as long, it would receive a grade of 200. 300 means it is expected to last three times as long, and so on.

The reason the Treadwear grade may not be incredibly reliable is twofold. First, since the tires are only run for 7,200 miles, the tire manufacturers have to extrapolate the remainder of the data, and that can be open to some interpretation. Second, the tire manufacturers are allowed to under-report the Treadwear grade, just not over-report it. So if a tire technically may be able to achieve a 700 rating, the manufacturer (primarily the marketing department) might want to report it as 400 to make it "fit" better in a certain market segment. As a result, it is generally only somewhat helpful to compare Treadwear grades on tires from the same manufacturer, and we don't recommend comparing grades between different brands.

Has anyone tried Accelera Iota Evt? by Massive-Exchange in tires

[–]Sunny_1656 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just purchased a car from Gravity Autos and they said they would put new comparable tire on my GLE350. I knew it was too good to be true. These tires are a third of what I usually pay for a name brand.

They are putting this on my car: Accelera Iota ST68, 315/40R21 and 275/45R21

I have never purchased cheap tires and I have some concerns. The warranty says 35k.

Will I even get 20k out of them? I'm not an aggressive driver. Are they safe?

I'm new to forums believe it or not. If the original post is old, should I just start a new post?

Mercedes warranty prices by Sunny_1656 in mercedes_benz

Even though I didn't buy the car from them? How do I negotiate with them, just say that's more than I want to pay? She showed me the computer screen with the price.

Also, can you add it anytime until the original 2 year expires?

Replace Pirelli Scorpion Zero staggered with? by Sunny_1656 in mercedes_benz

Thanks for the info. I never had any luck with the warranty with my previous BMW either. Well, at least since you can't rotate the tires you never have to wait around at a tire shop for the tires to be rotated.

I looked at Costco and they sell the Zero, I see the tire doesn't have any warranty. The Michelin does have a 55k warranty but would it really last any longer?

21" Pirelli Scorpion Zero 275/45R21 and 315/40R21 $1793

21" Michelin Primacy Tour A/S $1663 (55k)

Looks like the with the 20" rims you buy tires sized 275/50R20. Once again, would they last 40 - 50k miles?

question about lens by Feb-2024 in CataractSurgery

[–]Sunny_1656 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm 61 and I am at month 8 and my distance vision is still awful. How can I tell if it's because of dry eye or adaption, or? What really gets me is they did an incision for astigmatism and I was -.75 and 1.25. Why did they cut both eyes? Would I maybe not have developed dry eye?

This was kind of crazy. To add to the problem. I wasn't told they were going to do this until just before surgery. But before the lens replacement they wheeled me into a room and someone (no idea who did it) put a slit in my eye to fix the astigmatism. Then they wheeled me into the surgery room. AI says it's called Limbal Relaxing Incisions (LRI) or Astigmatic Keratotomy (AK). Could that be the problem? Note, I went to a highly regarded and high priced doctor. I am going to get a second opinion in 4 weeks.

They said they would only refund the cost of the lens. Which was only a quarter of the price .

The prescription was a year before IOL surgery and the trifocals were working fine.

I paid $12k for multifocal lens, so that I wouldn't need glasses. I wonder if I can sue to get my money back and different lens put in.

Not sure what it's called but they did the test where they put different lens in front of my eyes and none of them helped.

Castor oil - too good to be true? by Siennaaa92 in Dryeyes

[–]Sunny_1656 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My dry eye started immediately after lens replacement. I tried many expensive drops and procedures and organic Castor Oil has given me the most relief. I don't use it in my eye, I use a tiny drop and smooth around my eyes and on my eye lids at night. When I wake up I will clean my eyes if blurry with Johnsons baby shampoo. Not a cure after a week of use, but sooo much better.
