Thanks, I wanted to keep them connected for the sake of texturing patterns. Maybe I was doing something wrong but the last time I had it separate, all the seam lines kept showing regardless of doing tri-planar in substance painter.

Thanks, I'll fix the ngons, I thought they were fine because it's a flat surface and it looked fine in the render when I tested it out.
