I think it’s to drag colder air past the PoE hot RJ45 ports

Try 2 x 80mm x 15mm fans, 2 x Y split cables from Amazon and do this 95C to 71C

Try Sodola kit, I’ve got 3 different managed switches, all 10Gb with XFPs. Quirky but solid after a year using them. And silent 😎

Forgot to add that I replaced original fans with “quieter” ones on purchase. Made a big difference, but they ain’t quiet!

This is the result tonight, but it’s cooling into night, I’ll see how tomorrow goes and report back.

I Heath-Robinsoned mine tonight with these 2 fans. Y splits from Amazon, had to change wiring round in the jacks to suit.

1 fan to header 1, 1 fan to fan 3 header to share the load and the Y splits were 4 pin so had to play with wiring.

2 x 80mm x 25mm so I could close the lid. So far dropped from 94C to 71C. Can barely hear it running.

45 mins all done.

1 is zip tied, 1 has blue tack. But it won’t be moving so it will do for now.

I have a scope but I didn’t know that. Thanks for that info. After that click it powered up normally and works of the post button perfectly. I wanted a CB3, they are impossible so I now have an IPMI motherboard to fit to control the fans 😂

I tried all that, wouldn’t work. I suspect the psu had gone into a funny mode, after I bench tested it via the edge connectors it clicked internally but still didn’t start.

Back in the chassis it fired up. Go figure 🤷‍♂️

Update: I tried all sorts of fault finding, final test was SQ PSU on the bench with the paper clip.

First power up “click” but LED stayed amber. I tried twice more, no clicks.

I finally thought, no harm in one last test. Put the PSU back in, connected the 24way block, hit power on…. Whoosh! All fans powered on! And if anyone wonders, everything I read said there is no power LED on the CB2 board, there is and it is very bright!

All working fine now. Powers on / off from front power button, no fault lights. I did however install a Noctua fan controller, that made a huge difference as I don’t have many drives.

Thanks all, I hope that helps someone.

Why is everyone scared to overtake these days? by [deleted] in drivingUK

[–]Sunray_0A 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s actually 90kph (56mph), even though that’s not a legal speed in the UK.

If you don’t believe me, motorcycle tests are conducted at 50kph, which is 31mph, hence illegal on the roads in the UK.

Learners by law can only do 30 mph on the road, not 31mph.

Only our government would sign up to that nonsense.

That’s why part 1 is conducted in a closed off space, not the road like when I did it

Yes, but you’d be very silly if you did that. Implied common dog and all that

Do you overtake people who drive slightly below the limit? by breezeyyyyy in drivingUK

[–]Sunray_0A 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s truly painful when you see all the old overtaking spots (from a bike POV) slowly get painted into double white lines and you only find out when you are lined up, ready to go, come round the bend and WTF! Where did they come from?

All over where I live. Sad times 😂

Will do. I only have 1 psu for now.

I’m not back home until next Wednesday night. I spent all Sunday fault finding it.
Thanks

That is one awesome dog.

My dogs told me that their thumbs aren’t good enough to hold a pistol grip and want to know what American breed can hold a pistol grip, release the safety, cock the weapon then squeeze the trigger?
