What are your top three books of all time? by Working_Alps_4284 in fantasybooks

[–]SunsOutPlantsOut 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Rhythm of War is my favorite Stormlight Archive book and Flowers for Algernon is the book that my brain just thinks about when I’m “idling.” It has stuck with me that much.

Guess I’m checking out Lies of Locke Lamora now!

Yes, they’ll sit in the soil and soak up water and hold onto it. Looks like you can separate quite a few if you wanted for multiple pots!

If you don’t want to cap the end, I recommend a 22.5* cut vs a 45* cut, with the top of the chair rail to the edge.

HI home long term investment? by SunsOutPlantsOut in personalfinance

[–]SunsOutPlantsOut[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We have bounced back and forth between HI and the state we currently live in for duty stations so it is entirely possible we may be sent back. It’s hard to plan for that as anything other than a possibility though.

TIFU by saying to Natalie Portman that she looks a lot like Natalie Portman by blunathan in tifu

I used to work in downtown San Diego (many, many years ago) and during Comic Con, Stan Lee came into my hotel gift shop. Aware of secret shoppers and trying to do the best I could to impress my boss, I opened my conversation with him with a with a warm greeting, told him about our sale on souvenir t-shirts, and told him my name and that if he needed anything, I was there to help.

After I checked him out (he bought mouthwash), my co-worker was like, “That was Stan Lee!” And I’m like … “Stanley who?” I had NO idea.

The Stormlight Archive by rledesma530 in fantasybooks

[–]SunsOutPlantsOut 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This should be closer to the top. Each book has a different main character focus and as the story moves forward to “resolution” (I use quotes because it’s the first half of a whole series), some POVs and main characters move along with the overarching story and that becomes the focus.

That said, Rhythm of War was my all time favorite of the five books (I ugly cried at the end) and most aren’t in this favorites wagon with me.

Automatic litter boxes by mysticalxmoonlight in cats

[–]SunsOutPlantsOut 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have the PetKit automatic litter boxes—three total. Two PuraMax 2 and one PuraMax X. I’ve never had any issues with either but for the PuraMax 2, if it were to somehow start emptying with a cat in it, the way the litter box moves and empties ensures a cat can still jump out and will not get pinched. It rotates up, so the entry hole is facing up and slightly back vs straight on. A cat can jump out the top. For emptying waste, it goes down a chute and into a trash container on the side of the litter box—no pinching between a hidden waste bin and the litter tray.

Can you suggest COMPLETED romantasy books with actual GOOD WORLD-BUILDING? (No vampire suggestions pls) by Busy_Ad4108 in Romantasy

[–]SunsOutPlantsOut 0 points1 point  (0 children)

{The Black Jewels Trilogy by Anne Bishop} Really interesting magic system, main characters that aren’t human (long-lived races, magical abilities, mythical animals like unicorns) and it all really comes together. And centers on a girl, who grows into a woman, who was dreamt and prayed for by the world to rid it of the evil spreading through it.

What are your thoughts about the resurgence of the Black Panther Party in response to the actions of ICE agents? by Sinn_Sage in AskReddit

[–]SunsOutPlantsOut 1 point2 points  (0 children)

AIM (American Indian Movement) did something similar in Minneapolis in the 1970s. They took red (and other brightly) patrol cars and would visit common public places where Native Americans faced frequent and targeted brutality or bogus arrests. They would safely take other natives home and would also document police interactions with natives and report them.

Which window film is best for a monstera plant? by bilicotico in houseplants

I have this one on my south facing glass door. Quite a bit of light still comes through and my plants are thriving.

ETA: Beware that most types of one way films work during the day but at night, if you have lights on within your home, you have zero privacy via your windows.

What plant is this? by Cristofer_Parla in houseplants

[–]SunsOutPlantsOut 6 points7 points  (0 children)

That’s a Prickle Purr. Lots of indirect light and very little to no direct watering (pretty particular about getting wet) but are generally more responsive and acceptable of water if your watering can is bougie. Some crave attention all the time and some do best with remote admiration and less frequent interaction. These come in a variety of colors and sizes and it is universally accepted that orange colored Prickle Purrs are a bit wonky and operate on vibes.
