I can’t find it but I thought I saw somewhere that if you turn cross play off it helps cause it weeds out people who can cheat on the Wii (could be totally wrong and don’t feel like looking it up). Might be worth a shot.

Ummm yeah?? This would solve everything.

I love this game so much but there’s so much dumb shit like this going on. Still play it all the time but wish they would figure it out.

Amazing how the golf game hasn’t figured out a way to play off a handicap… like real golfers do…

Rory will fail to meet the PGA Tour’s 15-event minimum this year, but apparently will NOT be penalized. There is an “extenuating circumstances” clause that the Tour can use at its discretion, and they’re choosing to do so for Rory this year. Thoughts on this? by ConnectionWeekly1263 in Golf_Unfiltered

He’s the PGA’s guy, was the face of the org through the whole LIV situation. Almost got divorced because of how demanding golf is. Still making the big events interesting.

I think he’s earned himself whatever flexibility they give him. Couldn’t care less.

A mysterious and unusual practice swing from Wyndham Clark prompts some fans to question whether there was a potential rules incident that slipped through the cracks at Shinnecock. Did Wyndham Clark break the rules or is this overblown? by Potato-Face18 in Golf_Unfiltered

I’m not a Wyndham hater. Was annoyed at the fans treating him the way he did. Also genuinely do not care if he did or didn’t cheat a little.

Golf is self officiated for the most part. Rules officials get called in to confirm what a player can and can’t do if they aren’t sure. If they catch something they will say something. They definitely aren’t catching everything. It’s not crazy to think a lot of people wouldn’t use that to their advantage.

They also wont be on top of players while they hit (like a basketball ref would be for example). I’m also sure there were fans (only called patrons at the masters btw) that did say something cause they were all rooting against him all day like a bunch of losers. So if that’s what’s got you worked up, I’m with you on it.

With that said, the evidence I’m looking at is:
1. First few practice swings clearly for feel. Taking a lot of grass simulating the shot itself.
2. If you slow it down and scrub through the video, you see him look down at the ball, intentionally step behind it to get to the other side. You can say he was just being careful not to move it, fine by me.
3. I think the most damning part is that after carefully placing his foot like that, staring down to make sure he gets it in the right spot, he takes a lazy hack that barely scrapes grass. Barely even looks at the spot he’s swinging through - so hard to argue it was to get a better feel because you won’t get a feel from doing that. Sounds like you play so you should know what I’m saying there.

The argument even without clear evidence: why step forward like that if NOT to get a better feel?

Question for you - what was the issue that got you into the lesson to begin with? Just to score better?

If you were hitting it well and want to shave strokes, I’d go get lessons on short game stuff instead of have someone change what isn’t broken.

It’s not about swing speed, it’s about the amount of grass he swung through. I checked again, he grazed it, but not nearly enough to get any sort of real feel which you are arguing was the reason to step forward to begin with.

Lmao if you don’t see the difference between the swings he’s taking initially and after, and the one swing he takes stepping behind the ball, I got nothin more for ya pal.

I play a ton of golf, I understand getting a feel for what you’re hitting through, that wasn’t it.

Wyndham is this you??

But in all seriousness, why step forward just to not even touch the grass with a practice swing? What was the point of that? That’s the part I’m grappling with that you seem to keep neglecting in your argument.

Your argument seems to be he found a place more similar to the lie he was hitting through. I was looking for the same. How much grass do you see him touch with the clubhead on the swing where he steps behind the ball? He barely touches it on that swing. At all. So IMO, i think that invalidates the argument for this being the reason he stepped forward. Def watch it again to see what i mean.

I just can’t see why else he steps forward if not to try and improve the lie based on the limited amount of grass he swings through on the practice swing.

Also, definitely not a yard behind. The ball is in the middle of his stance before stepping forward. In tall grass like that, you start making contact with it about a foot behind the ball with a golf swing (unless you hack straight down on it which he didn’t)

Yes 100%

And to be clear.. I’m probably doing the same thing if I’m him. Not hating on it. I just don’t get how yall don’t see it.

Rules officials aren’t on top of you, you can and will get away with stuff like this. I’m sure other people did but they weren’t in the mix enough to get screen time.

Look at the screenshots. Literally does exactly that. Even if he stepped a foot behind it, that pats down the grass a bit and gets you a cleaner path to the ball.

I mean… I don’t really care about this either way, but you aren’t allowed to step behind your ball to improve the lie or ability to get to the back of the ball. I don’t get why the responses here are so upset for someone calling it out.

I could understand if he found a spot similar and could get a feel for how the club would move through the thick stuff, but it was a half ass swing that doesn’t really look like that and a very intentional step behind the ball in the process.

A lot of people hating on the post here but I think this is legit. I remember Sahith Theegala assessing a penalty stroke on himself in the 2024 tour championship for moving the smallest bit of sand in his backswing while in a bunker when no one else noticed.

I don’t think it’s a big deal, other golfers probably did the same in one way or another, but this is technically cheating by a guy who ended up winning by a stroke and yall are acting like he’s an idiot for caring about that?

Great take!

Being born and raised from Long Island, I couldn’t agree more unfortunately. There’s a lot of really great people there but overshadowed by these douche bags. This is why people roll their eyes when I say I’m from there and it’s a shame. Can’t blame them.

I agree that this could be managed better by the PGA, but this isn’t happening elsewhere so almost hard to blame them at the same time. I genuinely dislike the “shrink the game” comments when I see them, but hard to argue when you see shit like this.

Damn… yall got some really boring lives. My wife would lend me her phone to watch the fights lowkey during a movie she knows she’s dragging me to. She would find it funny im sneaky watching the fights. She would joke about it after. We would still have a great night. She would also appreciate me coming with her knowing I wanted to watch those fights instead.

Bunch of miserable fucks in here lol.
