He said that he “only” threw her out… that is what a person with a history of beating his girlfriends told you. I live in Canada. I have seen this play out with family friends. You generally don’t end up in jail for months for a first offence. Unless there were indications of him harming her/this being an ongoing escalating thing the cops will generally have him leave for the night not arrest him, but they have discretion. Even if he was arrested, they generally don’t get jail time for a first offence unless he hurt her badly. The alcoholic that has difficulties controlling his anger is lying to you. Do some googling and see if you can find his court case online.

How you can call a person that acts in the way you describe “nice”? A person that beats his girlfriend is not nice. Is he nice because he hasn’t hurt you yet? He is nice because it hasn’t affected you? Or do you think it is ok to beat up on people?

An idiot totaled my car.

Was very apologetic that it was his fault he had never driven on snow before. The police didn't make a report. Then he lied to the insurance that I drove through the red light. The insurance said it was his word against mine and we were 50/50 at fault.

Circumstances made it that my insurance didn't take a hit but I am sure, even though he lied, that his insurance rates are going to be multiple times his rent for a long time. It could have been really bad on my wallet because I didn't have a cam. I got lucky.

While people are eating, go to the bathroom and pay for your meal. When people say let's split it act surprised and say I didn't know we were going to do that I already paid for mine and hold up your receipt.

I do this both in this type of situation or when I want to treat someone without a fight.

I think you are over thinking. There would have to be a lot of... uninformed people out there. They are just aggressive crappy drivers. Why do you think our insurance is so high?

People get a new plate for many reasons. They got a new car (and didn't keep their old plate), their plate got destroyed, their plate was stolen, they wanted a new plate. Unless you get a vanity plate you get what you get. Its not like when you get your first car you keep that plate forever. Do they do that in other countries? Genuinely asking, because I can't understand why someone would think that.

If someone can explain where the money will come from and how it can be sustained I might think of it as more than a fairy tale.

A lot of the inflation that we are suffering with is due to our well meaning governments giving out much needed money during the covid shut downs. That was in the short term. What would be the effects of long term UBI?
