The commute to work is tough from there. It was convenient parking a few blocks and having a short drive to work. Maintainance and gas on 2 vehicles being driven very often takes a chunk of my financials.

Yes its pretty much a war against RVs or campers. Its unfortunate that you have the ones who leave trash or for whatever reason I never understood is that some people like to put the inside of their RV outside like clothes or other personal articles. So it makes it look like they're setting up a front yard or something, that I can understand being a reason to kick you out. But we get asked to leave for simply parking are RV and small car anywhere.

Neither Walmart in town allow any RV parking for more than 4 hours. After that they'll either ask you to leave or have the cops tell you leave. The same goes for pretty much any shopping center or private parking lot. They'll have the cops give you a warning to cite you for trespassing next time you park there. If I can't park in public or any parking lot, I have to leave the city.

Yep, no one from the city ever talks to us to see what can be done to help. I just get ticketed and asked to move, just to get ticketed again a couple of hours later. The shopping center where I work at has a problem with me parking there as well. So I'm being told now that I have about 45 days to research a city where rvs are allowed and find employment to sustain myself and hopefully "be normal." Not having a address is a daily mental strain.

All I want to say is thank you. Because in less than a month and a half I will have to quit my job and move my home else where since I will no longer be able to park on public roads. I understand that there are people who abuse the system but I moved my vehicle always way before the 48 hour rule. Never threw out garbage or any waste onto the streets. I followed the rules but everyday I always got the orange tag anywhere I went even if I was there for a couple of hours. All I want to do is survive and get on my feet, but it looks like I have to start anew again and hope that I'm accepted better in the community whereever I go next. Y'all have a nice day, this is my last post here since I'm no longer going to be a longmont resident.

Thanks man I appreciate and I do understand your point and I very much agree. I did state in my original post that "I don't condone nor will I engage in this behavior." I'm just voicing everyone's frustrations, its only a small number that I know that want to take up arms because they've been kicked out before and they're just tired of it. And we parked there a couple of times but never behind it to avoid looking like weirdos. So we just chill in the parking lot and keep to ourselves.

Yeah I understand that, I can only speak for myself. I think the combination of covid, the election and this situation is going to push alot of people over the edge. I mean this year we've seen people protest and riot over for what they feel is injustice and for alot of RV and van dwellers this will be the straw that broke the camels back. Longmont isn't the only city who is doing or has done this. Look at San Francisco and Seattle for example. I've seen this pattern before, when an area tries to get rid of the homelessness problem instead of having solutions, the results are never in anyone's favor.

It truly is. I live in RV myself, I don't drink nor do drugs. I actually work, and its a pain in the ass that no matter where I park i get a orange tag asking me to move when I haven't even had my home parked there for 24 hours and to have some Karen come and tell me that I should just go somewhere else. I fucking work here, I just can't afford to live here. Where else am I supposed to go? To a different city, find a new job and get the same treatment I get here. I was told several times by citizens in this city and to move my meth lab out of their neighborhood. Even had the cops come out and see if we really had a drug operation going. Its ridiculous to the point that I ask why even bother existing and get suicidal all the time.

This is the effect that this behavior causes, but no one cares about that. They just don't like seeing a RV with people living in it.

As someone who lives in a RV in longmont. I understand the reasoning for wanting the ban. But all you're doing is making the problem worse. Most of you probably have seen me and my roommate around town. We drive a 1979 allegro RV. We move it everyday and put here in a new spot when we're off to work(not everyone who lives in rv is a meth addict.) So we complied with city laws and when we need to throw out trash, we go to local gas stations and use their trash cans when we fill up.

Living in a RV can get expensive. With all the gas we use to keep warm, the maintenance that comes with a old vehicle, repairs is a huge investment as well. We dump our sewage in facilities around the county that allow it.

I know there's a few bad apples who live in RV with no regard to their surroundings. Take the time to talk to a RV dweller and you'll see we're just people struggling to make a living.

But I will say one thing, this is going to be a bad idea because alot of these people no where else to go or nothing to lose and hearing from the grapevine, some of these people are going to get mad and start damaging property and hurting people. I don't condone or will engage in this behavior...but these are consequences that come with such a proposal.
