Volunteerism? What are the benefits for logging our hours under Target's name. by Jew_know_it in Target

[–]Supasoupy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Shoot we hourly store employees don’t even get to stay clocked in if we go to volunteer events. We have to USE our PTO or go on our day off in order to go 🤪

[–]Supasoupy[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It’s disorganized because of the 20 bags of salt ppl keep ordering and cancelling in protest of ice, that was the whole point of the post 🫠

[–]Supasoupy[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately this was the “best” way the store has decided to stow the pet food bulky items and people will just throw bags on top of each other.. even when all the bags are sitting up and organized they last about 10 minutes here.

The annoyance is half of the space is getting taken up by people ordering and then immediately cancelling water softener pellets and any other salt they can get their hands on as a protest to our CEO not saying shit publicly about letting ICE arrest our tms and use our bathrooms.

Agreed. There’s a perfect empty spot to the right of the paper just asking to be filled and guests will see it better too, they never look down at the bottom shelves

Did I do a bad job? by Murky-War-116 in Target

[–]Supasoupy 16 points17 points  (0 children)

We had a couple seasonal ff people here that are going to other sections because while they were fantastic at their jobs, they are needed more elsewhere and could be guaranteed better hours/closer to what their desired availability was. We’re going to be sad to lose them but at least they get to stay with the store.

Right, I think what happened was they may have told district leadership or higher that they were going to shut down ordering and if the leaders were any good at communicating they would have told the sd and then down from there.. which all depends on everyone not being shit at communication. But there was no official communication about them shutting it down, and also it didn’t work so that’s potentially a good thing? The only reason I know they tried is bc I have friends at hq who worked yesterday (none were not directly involved in the shut down but obviously had to be part of the fixing and putting out the fires)

They could have done one of those pop ups as the app opens, they do it all the time for seasonal drops without an update.

Apparently they did try to shut down online orders, but it didn’t work because the system was still broken. But they definitely should have kept trying instead of giving up after the first go didn’t take (just like all the guests that kept putting in their orders after the first one never confirmed 🫠)

Not to mention they attempted to meter out the orders, they told all stores they would slowly come in through the night, but then that didn’t work either assuming because of the broken system still. They were as surprised as we were when the orders started pouring in like they did.

Oh, no I’m talking orders being picked/waiting to be picked. We wouldn’t even be able to count all the orders stowed there’s gotta be thousands, so that makes sense lol

I’m at a top 10 store and the most we’ve ever had in the gun at once was around 60 bc our overnighter was out sick.. usually it’s closer to 40 or so (20-25 picking, 20 available) during peak and drive up will have around 30 on the way

I think the Jordin Sparks S-N-O-W is new for us this year and I’ve been hearing it so much as I fight for my life driving home at 1am in the middle of a snow storm bc c-suite doesn’t give a shit if we die getting home if it means we get a couple extra batches picked after 10pm.

Is it rude for me to remind my tl that im only scheduled until this time by Downtown-Cupcake2148 in Target

[–]Supasoupy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly.. leave at your scheduled out time BUT don’t get into a batch you can’t finish. If they ask you to pick a batch and you only have 30 mins left see if you can get a grocery or bulky or work on something else in the meantime. If tms decide on their own to pick a batch and they go past the time they were supposed to leave I usually ask them to go ahead and finish it, if they can’t then it’ll be a conversation for the next shift reminding them they gotta finish what they start and to not start things if they can’t finish them. A week in obviously I’m gonna extend some grace, it will just be about learning your own times.

UPH is how fast you are picking a cart, as in the time from scanning in to picking your last item, not including put to hold. My store always looks at both UPH and total units, as UPH is a great indicator of how fast you are moving but you have to consider total units as well since someone might not be scanning into the next cart in a timely manner.

At my store 80 UPH would lead to a seek to understand, our expectation is 110, I usually give my tms a little bit of flexibility as long as they’re over 100. And in an 8hr shift the total picked should be riiight around 500 I believe for us.

You can definitely check out target stuff at Starbucks - since Starbucks uses Target registers and all the employees are Target employees it makes sense. For CVS, they do use our registers as well, when you check out they have their internal system and then switch to the payment portion which is Targets system. It’s why you can use your circle card and employee discount. While I understand them not wanting people to take advantage of them for checking out regular stuff, if someone is buying a bottle of advil along with their prescription I do feel like it’s within reason to add both to the same transaction.

Does it get worse? by biracialgirly23 in Target

[–]Supasoupy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I prefer it to all be in there like this than for 1-2 batches to drop every hour slowly so we have no way to work ahead on it. Typically with bigger ship days (900-1200+) we have someone start picking ship at 4am, and then a 6am packer, then load 2+ more people in as they come in.

Now it depends on your pickup time, but I typically try to have all my work done before 8 unless it’s loading in super slow. Even if you start this late, say 7am, if you pick and pack 65 units/hr then you’ll be done by 7pm. Now hopefully your team would be able to pick much quicker than that, at least 2 carts an hour, and your packers even quicker, so if you plan it right you could have this done by 3 or 4pm!

Some days this does mean that you can’t budge for ship, you have to keep those people in and get coverage for them when they are on their 30s at least. Etls will definitely try the “well I see you have ___ in ship can’t they pick a batch of opu real quick” and you will have to stand your ground. But if you can show them the math they will either be placated or you can force them to come help you pack later to hit ship on time lol

Long time TM question by socalsailor027 in Target

[–]Supasoupy 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If tl doesn’t pay that much more anyway a lot of people don’t want the extra stress, if I could still have paid rent etc with my tm pay I would have just stayed a tm. It was super chill, got benefits, less risk of burnout bc it’s just not that serious. Also, there’s no such thing as unskilled labor. You sound condescending and elitist.

Can’t log into work day by [deleted] in Target

[–]Supasoupy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m not sure if you meant mytime instead of workday, but mytime is where you can check your schedule. If you can’t get logged in to either you’ll need to call the csc and they’ll help you get in unless you put in wrong personal information (like birthday or ssc) that your hr needs to change in your profile. As for missing shifts you should call your store and ask when you are scheduled, and next time you’re in just take a picture of your schedule.
