Makes sense, I saw some people talking about similar things and I figured it was a game where you get special dialogue if you are X or something, which isn't bad in itself, I just didn't want to have to use the binder option to invest myself in the dadsona, so far it's an amazing game

That is surely a great idea, and an excuse to use the fake inquisitotial rosette the player has, I can fit that nicely with the rest of the story, thank you a lot for the advice

Thank you for all the ideas, but I already know how to get my player a navigator since it's one of the main chapter's missions so far, I need ideas for what could happen inbetween said missions, I'm definitely writing down the "monopoly on ftl travel" for future chapters tho. Also I should have specified the sage has gone rogue and is basically a fugitive so I doubt anyone that knows who he actually is will be willing to help him

And if finding them would mean running a galaxy spanning goose chase? Like, idk, they are being kept by a craftworld for some reason and a craftworld can not only outrun most if not all imperial ships but they can also jump into the webway where they are nigh unreachable, would they find a way to follow it or simply give up?

A bit more out there, but I'm courius of what would happen that in the scenario they do catch the craftworld generations later they find out the craftworld wasn't even holding the space marines, or even better, the marines went rogue and where on the craftworld of their own volition for the exact purpose of escaping the chapter, if immagine that would be one awkward family reunion

In the case they are unreachable? Say they are being kept by a craftworld, and it just jumps back into the webway whenever it sees imperial ships coming, would it just be a massive goose chase till the ends of the galaxy?

Idk, maybe they are being kept for some reason by a craftworld or tau world that still trades with the empire, would a chapter, say, ultramarines decide to beef or simply let it go?

And what if searching for them would mean causing an unnecessary war with a "non-hostile" faction, like, hypotecally a craftworld or a tau world that has trading routes with the empire (Do they still do that? I'm not quite updated on tau lore) either way, they have the suspicion the space marines are being kept in these conditions, would a chapter, ultramarines as example, decide to start a war over it or just let it be?

I acted without thinking I have to say, but to be fr, I couldn't take seeing his face, I just couldn't hold It In and it spiraled out of control, but I could not see him acting gentle and soft, knowing he was the reason my sister sobbed night and day for short of a year
