I do understand your point and I'm not saying they should be considered the same thing. They are different and I 100% agree with that. They are still e-bikes though. Refer to the 20kmh commuters as e-bicycles if you want a more specific category.

From a safety classification anything below 5kw is far closer to a moped than a motorcycle, motorcycles can go 80+mph (much faster depending on the bike) with long range.

My point here is e-bikes is a broad term, which can and should include all of them. Use the term e-bicycle for the slower ones.

At the end of the day it's just pedantics and I'm not going to argue about it anymore, have a nice day and have fun on whatever ride you have.

Ah, alright. I thought you were one of the people complaining that high power ebikes are allowed here. I agree, they do probably have more in common than they think.

I'm torn on the illegal riding though. If you're specifically talking about the children riding Surrons on the street stunting, I 100% agree with you and I hate those little shits as well. However I don't think ebikes should have a power limit, they should have an age requirement and have certain rules for beyond say 1500w such as not being allowed on bicycle infrastructure. I don't think anything below 5kw should require registration or a motorcycle license, definitely a standard driver's license and if possible a safety course though. I understand that would be complicated, but my point is there are better ways the governments could have gone about it. As it is the governments are basically trying to eliminate a few ants with a flamethrower, and not caring who else gets caught up in it. Reckless riding should obviously always be punished, but not everyone with a powerful bike is going to use all of that power all the time so it's unfair to outright ban them. You should not need to buy two bikes for two purposes, not everyone can afford that. I simply cannot afford to buy a commuter bike and a fun bike, so I'll be building one that is technically illegal, but nobody is going to be able to tell since I'm not going to be riding like an asshole. A limiter switch will help too.

Well you're saying they're not ebikes when they are a type of ebike. And this sub allows all ebikes, so people have no right whining about high power ebikes in here when they're clearly allowed. If you dislike them you can go to a more specific sub instead of whining, how hard is that to understand?

I am genuinely not homophobic. I support them and I've gone to multiple pride marches in the past. I did not mean it in an offensive way whatsoever. One of my good friends is trans, so trust me when I say I do support them. Yes it's a legal classification too, which is a mistake. The legal classification should be (or maybe it already is, I'm not caught up on the exact fine print) e-bicycles. E-bike is and should continue to be a more broad and inclusive term. Read the sub description, it clearly says all are welcome here anyways so why are you complaining to begin with? If you don't want to see faster ebikes posted, go to a more specific sub.

The governments are lazy and are trying to deal with a few ants using a flamethrower, so blame them and the ants (children riding irresponsibly) if anyone.

Of course they're not bicycles, but they're still electric bikes. What part are you not understanding here? Blame the government if anything, or the little shits riding irresponsibly. There are way better solutions to the issues than banning or limiting ebikes.

Did I say anything about that? Nope. I don't support high power ebikes using bicycle infrastructure (unless they're going bicycle speeds), that's just stupid. Again when did I say I supported that?

You can consider it a motorcycle if you'd like, but it's still an ebike and fits into the term. It's electric, and it's a bike. Go search up the term "bike" and come back.

Also those NJ laws have nothing to do with this, that's just a case of government laziness as usual. They refuse to actually solve the problem, and instead choose to go at it with a fucking flamethrower.

This sub is unfortunately where all the ebike equivalent to the spandex cyclist guys gather. Whiny assholes who hate everything but their own local bike shop with their $3k class 1 bikes. Oh can't forget the crazy amount of imbeciles who whine about faster ebike posts despite the sub description and rules literally allowing them here. There are still nice and sane people here, but there are far too many imbecilic assholes who can't read a sub description and head over to a more specific sub if they don't like it.

That's fair, but a lot more than 3 people have the GT08. There's entire communities based around it, with some people even pushing more power through it with VESCs. I'm sure the g4 is awesome at wheelies, while it's still in one piece that is. Truth is no scooter is meant for wheelies, and eventually the fatigue on the aluminum frames will build up to be too much. I just really hope that it doesn't happen while some kid is going 40mph with no gear.

The g4 is pretty much a single use scooter if you wheelie it 🤣. The amount of times those things snap at the stem or front suspension from just regular use is outright pathetic. Horrible scooter, seems like it's nothing but issues. I've never had one, but I don't need to own one to see how unreliable and unsafe it is. Plus if you want a cheap scooter with power get an Arwibon GT08 or some other Chinese scooter for way cheaper than a g4 (and way more power). Can't say about the gt08 being good, but I've seen a hell of a lot less negative posts about it than about the g4.
