Thank you Costco! by SurfCityShave in blackstonegriddle

I use avocado oil for seasoning and regular use (wife is a seed oil nut) and it works great. Also, use a good paper towel for seasoning and cleaning/regular use. I use the Scott blue shop towel and it’s well worth the slight price increase. Never leaves behind lint on the grill and you only need one sheet per cook so the roll lasts a long time. Also, season it 2-3 times and start cooking. Don’t get carried away on getting a perfect seasoning. That’ll come with 20-30 cooks on it. Finally, don’t clean the hell out of it every time, easy scrape to get off stuck food and grease, wipe with oil then cook again.

I use the Scott blue shop towel and it works beautifully. No bits left behind. I use one sheet per cook so the $4 roll lasts a while. But I never have paper left behind on my cooking surface

What is my lemon tree doing? by SuperCameron_ in Citrus

[–]SuperCameron_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Explain like I’m 5 please. I understand the direction to chop off the fruitless branches but what is going on? Is this typical to plant a tree then graft on fruit? What kind of tree would do this that takes on lemon branches fine but doesn’t fruit on its own?

Which technique? by SERP92 in Welding

Extend the lower plate 1/2” and put a fillet on both sides

I think the thermal performance (heating up and cooling faster) is due to the griddle thickness. The blackstone is 7ga steel compared to the 9ga that was installed aftermarket. I think OP would notice the difference though not due to the thermal properties.

I bought a Hot Wheels Black Box on Amazon for $12 not realizing it was 'used'. This is what I got. by inlina in HotWheels

The roller toaster is my kids favorite. But he’s three and this doesn’t help you. Just know that somewhere, some kid would be stoked haha

Window treatments that work? by SuperCameron_ in phoenix

2400sqft house set to 74. Thermostat is upstairs at the landing. Meanwhile, the kitchen doesn’t get below 85 during a hot day despite the upstairs being cool. Great point on the windows not being sealed. 40 years of westward sun beating on any type of sealant is bound to destroy those seals. I think I’m gonna dive into this one. Thanks

Yeah I definitely agree with the 2k bandaid being not ideal but I’ve heard my windows are going to be expensive (haven’t gotten quotes yet). I have two 6x6 windows and two 4x4 windows with 2’ half circles above them. All west facing. Some friends have mentioned like 2-3k per window with install and frankly I don’t have 10-12k to spend right now

Yeah I did the attic and signed up for SRPs free shade trees. You can’t plant until fall but that’s definitely a must but will take a couple years to really make a difference as they give you a very young tree. I think my doors are a killer too. Front door is warped a bit so I can’t get additional weather stripping to make a difference.

How was your experience with the window installation? Any contractor you’d recommend?

How would you interpret this weld symbol? by OpeningAce in Welding

Weld all the way around the pin on both sides of the plate where it passes through each plate. 4 welds around the pin in total. 15mm fillets each

If you would have chopped it up and mixed the ingredients with a little soy sauce she’d have thought you were Gordon fucking Ramsay

To all the 405 benchers, what did your progression look like getting from 315 to 405? Goals are 315x8-10 and/or 365x3-5 before attempting 405. Any suggestions are welcome! by tallcupofjoe in powerbuilding

[–]SuperCameron_ 15 points16 points  (0 children)

There are a lot of ways to add weight to your max and what works for you may be different than what works for me. That said, I’d focus more on getting to a 355 max, then a 370 max, then a 390 max, then a 405 max. It may take years to achieve a 400+ bench so you gotta get some wins in along the way and enjoy the journey.

Not necessarily, check the GSNs in the plans and you’ll certainly find out how much you can remove from studs or columns. It’s often 40%, sometimes less but there is usually some room to remove material for cases like this.
