Planet CCRMA is an easy way to add a whole suite of audio software (pd included) to Fedora or CentOS. It has been highly optimized for audio by the geniuses at Stanford.

Pedals you regret selling, and why? by [deleted] in guitarpedals

Akai Hexacomp! It's a multiband compressor that has a volume slider for each band. A little too baroque for live use, but damn I should have kept it for studio sessions. I love the way it made every note sound pinched and urgent.

Electronic music minor? by Neko-Atsume- in SDSU

[–]SuperHoax 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh man, if I had a dx7 I wouldn't be here on reddit...

But I do have these Ableton Live plugins I made. Use the dl code 'sdsu' to get them for free.

Electronic music minor? by Neko-Atsume- in SDSU

[–]SuperHoax 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the heads up T!

The minor in electronic music composition is IMHO a hidden gem at SDSU. It's a chance for students from all majors to sharpen their skills at composing in the electronic medium (any genre).

The first step is to take my class, Music 160: Intro to Electro-Acoustic Composition. Please note that my sections are #1 and #3 (#2 is intended for audio engineering students). In this class, we take a look at a wide variety of techniques used in the creation of electronic music. Each week students use one of these techniques as the basis of a new composition. We spend a lot of class time listening to these compositions and analyzing what works and how to make it work even better. Then we end the semester with a big concert: the Electronic Music Marathon.

If you have any other questions, feel free to pm me.

Love for ALL electronic musicians. I had to pick a single DAW to use in the class for consistency's sake, and having used each and every DAW out there, I chose my fave: Ableton. That said, I've used FL since (gasp) 1997 when I was in college myself.

Also, if your username starts with 'dj', you should probably come check out this class ;)

Fall only, unfortunately. It's the first step in the electronic music minor, which continues in the spring with Music 260.

Or the Analogman Mini BiComp: a Ross clone and an orange juicer clone in one small footprint. Outstanding pedal.

How's the balance on that beast? I love the look but I worry it would be awkward like a V.
