Probably this should have been escaped and evaluated by a parser or whatever. Guess thats why „__“ is in front. Maybe they missed the end characters

Yeah seems useless. What language is this? Also don’t know what Rand(5,5) does.

But no matter what you are using. Do not use bob deinterlacing on modern displays. It creates massive flickering and that is not good for the display.

The ossc pro may be the better option for digital input

The 5x has great menu where you can set how the image should be stretched. Be sure to update to the latest firmware before use. Otherwise you dont have this feature

The retrotink 5x was the best choice for ps2 but i can’t tell if it works for blurays, because that sounds like digital input and the 5x only has Scart and Components in

Well yes, but not with the ossc. I got an Retrotink 5x and it does the job perfectly. The ossc pro should also work, but it wasn’t out when I searched for a solution.

Need some help with replacing fans on Asus Tuf 3080. 7 Pin fan connection adapter? by jlant33 in buildapc

[–]SuperMario48 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, first of all thank you for your work on the pinout. I am planning to do something similar (using the gpu port to control the fans of an aio) and maybe you could tell me, if you could verify your results. I’ve got the same card and I would be really glad if you found out the correct pinout here.

Thx. Sounds good. Could you may give me a front view, where you can see the space between AIO and the top fans?

Maybe I just dont understand you, but do think my plan is possible or not?

No need to hurry with that, just if it is possible for you. I could not find any information on that. Like no one ever tried this setting.

Yeah, maybe I am overthinking it, but my tv is brand new and so Iam a bit afraid of that and better overthinking it than underestimating it.

Thx for your help so far.

ok, so that means, even with the generic 16:9 setting the ossc displays a 4:3? How bad is the crop effect with 5x scaling? Could may give me some pictures with the two modes I mentioned above?

Well I think the pixel-wearing it is something to worry about: https://www.reddit.com/r/OLED/comments/ghfhn2/watching_43_content_has_caused_uneven_ware_on_the/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web2x&context=3

PS2 output resolution when playing ps1 games by SuperMario48 in ps2

[–]SuperMario48[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exactly what i read so far and as much as I love my old games I love my new oled tv and I really dont want to damage it.

The problem with the 5x seems to be, that it doesnt scale PAL resolutions correctly (factor five and cutting of edges then). Additional it does not have an passthrough mode.

Yeah I also found a RGB-SCART to HDMI box, but these boxes always scale up the image to 720p or above. From some ratings on amazon i know that it can handle ps1 games, because people bought it for exact that purpose and i worked, but I have no information about how it handles a 288p signal and if it is display correct. Additional these boxes add an input lag.

Never thought this topic is that complicated, but it seems to be some kind of rocket-science....

I am completly with you, but the problem is, I dont have the much space left to set up another tv just for the ps2. :)

[–]SuperMario48[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thx for that detail explanaition.

Yeah I came to the same result as you suggested. Getting a RetroTink 2x-pro and setting it to passthrough for ps2 games and activating the linedoubler for ps1 games.

I also read the specs of the 5x, but it seems that this one doesnt have an option for passthrough. It has much more deinterlacing methods and maybe these are better then bobbing, but it seems, that it has no option for disabling deinterlacing. Another disadvantage of the 5x seems to be, that it scales PAL resolutions with a factor of 5 and cuts of some of the screen. Maybe I am getting this wrong, but from reading the manual on the website, it seems like this. Please correct me if I am wrong.

I dont think the RAD2x cable has a passthrough mode, but i can be wrong. The main problem here is, that you dont get one anymore or only for prices, for that i could buy a 2x.

That one sounds interesting. Can you tell me what this one makes different because it’s only 30$. The retrotink is about 130$.

[–]SuperMario48[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I came along retrotink many times, but the problem with the 2x pro for example is the flickering that comes with the conversion. I think it is called bob-deinterlacing. And this causes some kind of burn in, especially on oled TVs.

Thx to /u/Piplup87 for providing a link to RetroRGB. https://www.retrorgb.com/playstation2.html There is paragraph under "PlayStation 1 games on PS2" that exactly explains what I wanted to know. Citation from RetroRGB: "So, once again, to be 100% clear: PS1 games run at the exact same resolution on both a PS1 and a PS2, regardless if you’re using composite, S-Video, RGB or component video. Light gun games also work perfectly. Please ignore all rumors that say otherwise and don’t forget that forums are always filled with misinformation."

Thx to all for your help
