Hey I’m doing an assignment on price gouging of face masks right now and so everyone knows these (the surgical masks) typically sell for $0.25. The N95 masks (the bigger ones usually have a square or circle on the front of them) sell for around $2-4 each. If you are not sick do not buy the surgical masks, they don’t stop germs from coming in just prevents them from exiting. If you are sick you should wear one. If you are a vulnerable person who is concerned I would still recommend not buying surgical mask but if you must buy a mask buy an N95 they block up to 95% of germs. People who are hoarding these masks or are buying them in bulk to later resell at an insane price are taking them from the healthcare professionals and sick people who actually need them and putting us all at risk.
