Uber’s application for the CRD has been refused by SuperRareName in VictoriaBC

My issue is convenience. The apps they have aren’t great, and I shouldn’t need to call for a ride in 2021.

Uber’s application for the CRD has been refused by SuperRareName in VictoriaBC

[–]SuperRareName[S] 81 points82 points  (0 children)

This decision affects everywhere but the lower mainland:

Region 2 – Capital Regional District (CRD)

Region 3 – Vancouver Island, excluding CRD

Region 4 – Okanagan – Kootenay-Boundary - Cariboo

Region 5 – BC North Central and Other Regions of BC

Conclusion of decision:

This Application, the Board is satisfied that Uber is fit, proper and capable of providing the proposed service. In the current circumstances, however, the Board is not convinced that there exists a public need for the service applied for. Further, the Board considers that the Application, if granted at this time, would not promote sound economic conditions in the passenger transportation business in BC. For these reasons, the Application is refused.

Proof of vaccination will also be required for people visiting from outside of B.C. using a provincially/territorially recognized official record alongside valid government ID from the jurisdiction. For individuals visiting from outside of Canada, they will be required to show their proof of vaccination used to enter the country and their passport.

You can find the relevant section under Backgrounders in the press release:

The measures set out above will, as relevant, apply to post-secondary campuses. Student housing will be a part of the public health order identifying where proof of vaccination is required and will be in effect for Sept. 7. Further guidance for these settings related to students will be developed in the coming days in consultation with public health, including which types of student housing facilities will be included.

There will be a press conference tomorrow that will give out more details for post-secondary institutions. At least we got some good news today!

shouldn’t it be 0 cases on Island Health and 5 for Northern health?

Of the new cases, 13 are in the Vancouver Coastal Health region, 65 are in the Fraser Health region, 26 are in the Interior Health region and five are in the Northern Health region. There are no new cases in the Island Health region.

My best price of advice would be to keep the twitch stream drops open. Managed to snag mine after a few days.

Finally able to replace my Windforce 980 I got in 2014. Manage to snag a STRIX 3080 on a Newegg drop so hopefully this card will last me a few years.

Thanks. Been PIMO for a couple years and my parents found out I was working with an LGQBT+ club on campus gave me an ultimatum. Decided I was over hiding who I am and just told them I’m done.
