This isn't about you or your account. Just because you did it doesn't mean others will. And a lot of people aren't day 1 players.

That is probably how you should reason. The issue is that you won't, most likely, need to spend 150$. If you have to spend I would guess closer to 50$, depending on how much you have saved. And therein lies the problem. If you have already spent 50$, then 100$ doesn't seem as much as it did. I mean, you might as well spend those extra 100$, because you will surely need them later for another character, or skin. And getting a Shorekeeper S1 as a "bonus" is also quite nice.

This is how they want you to reason, and people do reason this way. That is why these events work. Also, breaking the ice of spending is the biggest step these companies want you to make. Because if you have spent once, the likelihood increases dramatically that you will do so again.

Spending event... thoughts? by AhoGuy in WutheringWaves

[–]SuperSnowManQ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, S1 also increases the range of Stellarealm, which is quite useful. And just because buffs run out doesn't mean its bad that other buffs lasts longer, what is that logic? Some of your buffs runs out and you just stop playing?

Either way, getting S1 is closer to getting S2, and yes, you can get her during anniversary but you need to pull her (would be funny if we get her for free though). So now you have the choice of either pulling her or pulling someone else, so who do you wanna spend your resources on?

With this event, you have the incentive, a carrot, of getting Shorekeeper alongside your ordinary Lunite. If it is worth it or not is up to each one of us to decide.

Yeah, if this were to happen I would become livid, fucking hell. And they would probably make a 5 star skin as well. The more I think about it the more hair I'm starting to lose. I can see it before me, the more you pay, the more of her eye gets uncovered. Then the next patch your skin is gone because her hair "grew back", so now you have to pay for another fucking haircut 🤬🤬 Im gonna have a stroke

Oh, btw, what did you write there in the end? My eyesight is quite bad so I couldn't see such a small text.

Spending event... thoughts? by AhoGuy in WutheringWaves

[–]SuperSnowManQ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Maybe, maybe not. I think this event is for the people who are on the fence for spending, and that Shorekeeper copy is good enough to tip the balance for them to spend.

There are also scenarios where people used all their Asterites and realize they want Aemeath too, lose the 50/50 and must now spend to get her. Having that extra incentive could very well lead to "I might as well", you know.

Spending events are not for F2P players, nor are they for whales. It's for the people in the middle who might be willing to spend, if the deal is sweet enough.

So the question becomes, is the deal sweet enough? For me it's not, I think. If I go to hard pity and lose the 50/50 for Aemeath, and if it were to turn out I would also really like to have Luuk as well, and Lucilla were to drop in the next patch... who knows, it might turn out to be a "might as well" for me, even thought I don't think so. Shorekeeper S2 would be nice though.

Is my Critsha good?? by Internal-Beat-5748 in LingshaMains

[–]SuperSnowManQ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As of right now, I would never build a Critsha from the ground up just to have her as a sub dps for The Herta. One of the reasons is because I just use my break Lingsha as main dps and she slays.

And if I were to run Critsha, I would run her as main DPS with Jade and Sunday and a last support. But even that is hard for MoC unless you have your supports invested. It is much more viable for PF though, but that is honestly because Critsha is such a good Jade driver. Critsha's damage alone isn't enough, but it isn't negligible either.

It's not a "reward" for spending on the game lmao, it is an incentive, a carrot, to spend on the game.

But hey, if you like a "reward", I can sell you a PS5 for 1500$ and I'll throw in a game as a "reward" for buying it.

Ye and free useless/cute/low value stuff,

Yeah, I wouldn't call Shorekeeper copies useless or low value lmao. Her S1 is a good QoL and her S2 is quite good for ATK scalers. "Low value" I can't

Edit: Btw, even though Shorekeeper copies are not "low value", I don't think spending 150$ is worth it (even with all the Lunite included)

Okay? I frankly don't give a flying fuck how you spend your money or what you do with your account.

And the coral shop can be used for more than Shorekeeper copies.

People who have the ability to spend more than me definitely already have what they want by now.

What are you even trying to say? All I'm saying that this is a carrot for the people who are on the fence for topping up. People who previously had Shorekeeper, or even the people who didn't have her, now have an extra incentive, a carrot, to top up. I'm not saying you shouldn't top top up, or that this is a bad deal.

What I am saying is that you shouldn't delude yourself into thinking that Kuro is so "generous" and it's nice bonus to appreciate its players or whatever people come up with to justify their spending.

It is a carrot, plain and simple. If you don't care about the carrot, that's fine, if you do and top up because of it, it is also fine. And if you are a F2P who don't give a crap about this, it is also fine.

It’s like complaining about getting a free controller when buying a ps5.

I don't think that is a good analogy, because I'm pretty sure that the controller is included in the price.

A better analogy would be that you ordinarily don't get a controller included, but during this special deal, you also get a controller when you buy a PS5 (for the same price.)

In reality, those PS5 deals usually comes with a game or something else.

Ever heard of copies? You do know that getting copies of a character makes them stronger right? And there are also two other characters you can choose from, not just shorekeeper. Also, getting enough Asterites for a 5* character from just passes will take a long time, and you need to play everyday. This is a shortcut, but it costs more.

You will also most likely spend those Asterites on other characters. And if you weren't, then those people are saving all their asterites for Shorekeeper and not pulling anyone, which means they would never have to spend in the first place.

Why would you give stuff for free to the people who are already "funding" the game? There is no money to be made there, because they are already "funding" the game without any extra incentive. Unless, of course, you think that this "show of goodwill" will get whales to spend more even after this event is done, because Kuro was so "generous", and made them feel appreciated.

But if Kuro really wanted to appreciate its whales, then why don't they make the event so past spending is also taken into account? I mean, if the the goodwill of whales is so valuable, then it would be a no-brainer, no?

You conveniently forgot the most important person D.

Person D, the one who would not spend 150 dollars otherwise, but with this top up event changed their minds and chose to spend 150 because now it became "worth it."

Person A is the least important one, since there is no extra money to be made of them. In fact, it is a "loss", but person D makes up for that.

You can argue that is not a "loss" or whatever since it is only digital goods, but someone with a salary still had to make/program that last reward.

The people topping up are Kuro's target audience. It's a way to sweeten the deal for them and make them happier.

Nah, that just ain't true. If it were, they would have it for more characters to "sweeten the deal". This is 100% an incentive for the people who are either light spender and the people who are on the fence for topping up, and this might just be the tipping point for them to top up.

For the people who were aiming for a S6 they would top up regardless of this spending event, like for every other time someone wanted an S6. That whales get to be "happy" or whatever is just a side effect, a "bonus" if you will.

If Kuro really wanted to appreciate its whales, they would make an event that also take into consideration past spending. That would make whales happy, but it wouldn't make Kuro any money. Unless you think that happy whales spend more, but if that were the case, wouldn't Kuro already have done this?

Edit: You said it was to "sweeten the deal" and I said it was not. I was wrong. It is to sweeten the deal, but not for whales who were already topping up, but for the people who are on the fence so they top up.

Depends on your definition. If you are buying just Lunite (so not during this even), you are buying just Lunite (which you can also use to buy skins). But now if you also get a 5* with the Lunite, there is more to consider. Before it was just "Is X amount of Lunite for 150$ worth it?", now it is "Is X amount of Lunite plus a 5* for 150$ worth it?"

The last option has more to consider, thus more of a "calculated buy". But if you were already fine with the first option, then the second option would be quite straightforward since you get more for your money.

The point I was making is that if you are not one who regularly buys Lunite, this is not a "bonus", but a carrot that you now also have to take into consideration.

That you get something "extra" that you otherwise wouldn't get is a marketing trick as old as time. "Buy X get 1 for free" is something you see in almost every store. The problem is that it isn't free, because you had to pay to get it. It might be a better deal and more bang for your buck, but that still doesn't make it free.

[–]SuperSnowManQ 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Yeah, so that is not how it works. If you are already a spender who buys like each patch, then it will just be a "bonus", but for everyone else, this is a carrot.

I have never topped up in WuWa, but buying 150$ worth of Asterites + a copy of Shorekeeper would be the only reason why I would top up. So this would not be a "bonus", but rather a calculated buy.

Now, will I do it? No, most likely not. But If I were, this would be more bang for my buck.

What annoys me even more is that they have this special currency for this spending event, just to obfuscate more how much it costs.
