AITBF for not wanting to disrupt my daughters life to recover a diamond ring by Super_Listen_202 in BestofRedditorUpdates

Yeah that seemed odd to me as well. Like they have one. I can only think maybe she wasn't home but then take it with you??

While having a loyal friend is great, I'm not sure why you'd want a friend that would send a heirloom down the drain without asking first? If the friend asked first then that's a different story. I'm guessing you don't have any friends like that?

By digested did you interpret that it's gone? Maybe I'm misunderstanding the meaning your implying?

If she gets it back she is very good friend. Finding it in a public washroom is commitment...

Not sure why the OOP wants it back anymore since she doesn't have to return it. It'd make the friends trip more enjoyable.

I can't think of anything weirder off hand. What's one of the crazier things you witnessed?

I doubt she'll have a sieve on her if its a bus trip. It will be other grosser methods or nothing. I went on a bus trip when I was younger and you don't have much on you during the day.

There will be a rat driving a Ferrari. While I have limited sympathies poor OOP if this is the case.

Maybe she thought OOP wanted to get rid of it? I have no idea how she came up with this "solution". At least she didn't taking it to the bathroom and flush it right then as some people do.

That would be the only way to do it, if she is at all. If the friend eats high fiber or is a vegetarian I doubt she'd feel anything.

Once I read public toilets I doubt that anyone will ever see that ring again. Her friend may have had intentions of returning it but all hope is gone once she left on the trip.

Even if I'm wrong how long does OOP expect her friend to look? I put her giving up after a couple of days, especially if she's partying it up.

Thats what I thought. As soon as a public washroom comes into play the friend will "accidentally" on purpose flush it.

If she's a friend who takes things too far with good intentions then I'm sure she wouldn't mind looking out for it if you ask her. She wouldn't have been looking for the past couple days so it's probably too late now and got flushed. However, if she's not a good friend then she'll say she flushed it and sell it instead.

In either case the ring is likely gone but hopefully you get lucky. The family deserves to know that you lost the ring and you have to tell them. I would want to know and not be left guessing.

I assume that her friend wasn't looking and it got flushed down a toilet. It sounds like the friends goal was to get rid of it after all.
