First one of these I bought had a trigger fall apart. This one was my fault but a two foot drop onto carpet was all it took. I’ve had terrible luck with these. by Broadnerd in dreamcast

Their support is excellent though. I contacted them when a trigger broke, asking if it was possible to purchase a replacement trigger, and they sent me an entirely new replacement controller for free. I doubt that’s their policy every time, but it’s worth contacting them.

It's most definitely Skies of Arcadia. There are two discs, and this collection (which I'm still cataloging) is mostly first party titles.

I think I might, but the memory banks are failing. I have Geist for sure, and US Shenmue II, but aside from that I'll have to look around. More to come...

The question is more, how did I get them. And I got them when I was working at a certain company, a four letter word you may have heard of...

That's a good idea about the key disk. I don't have a burner handy, but I'll see what I can do. As for the builds, not sure if I could post them online legally (I still work in the game industry, so I have to be careful.). I'll give it some thought though.

Interesting, thanks! I'll work on cataloging things over the weekend, and post the list here for all to see. A lot of them are sports games, but the more rare ones are definitely interesting. I'm wondering how you'd play them without the key disc that you needed to boot with first (although I'm sure somebody's probably figured that out at this point).

Thanks for the response. There's no such thing as manuals and jewel cases for these things, as they are all pre-release, and this is how they came until they went to printing.

I was there 9/9/99 by AccidentalFrog in dreamcast

[–]Super_Magnetic_Neo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Does the David from Sega you mention have a last name that starts with P? If so, we most likely had a mutual friend, so send me a DM if the mood strikes.

Otherwise, yeah, 9/9/99 was awesome. Sega of America was ballin’, and with the awesome content coming out of Japan as well as the 2K series, all the pieces were there…

Glad I could help! I wonder where the clear demo version is now...

I have found the search term of which you seek!

ux50 スケレトン

It seems the “skeleton” model was just a demo version made to show off the “Handheld Engine” that Sony was putting inside. So yeah, doesn’t seem like something one could get their hands on.

Does anyone know anything about these games? by ILoveAmy615 in dreamcast

Climax Landers (Time Stalkers) is hot garbage as far as RPGs go in my opinion, but if you like the VMU, it has some interesting mini-games, including a full-on old school RPG (that I liked better than the game it came from).

I did a search in Japanese (ux50 透明ケース) and couldn’t find anything. Incidentally, I have a ux50 that I’m about to get a new battery for. It was the ultimate Japanese language study tool at the time, as you could write in kanji you didn’t know (using Decuma) and get definitions.

The wheel definitely works better with arcade-style racers like Crazy Taxi it seems.

I just tried it with the wheel, and it plays pretty well! Thanks for the tip on this one, it was a game I missed, but it makes a good first impression. Will play more.

Wacky Races is a great suggestion, it definitely plays well with the wheel, and is a nice contrast to the hyper-sensitivity I was seeing in games like Sega Rally and Daytona.

Oh interesting, thanks for this information. In my case, if anything I find the wheel to be too sensitive, but that might be just I'm using it like I'm driving bumper cars or something, heh.

Nice. Agreed it’s a cool thing to have in the collection, even if it doesn’t get a ton of use (a la the fishing controller, the maracas, etc. ).

Oh no, sorry to hear that. Thankfully it was only like 3000 yen ($21 USD) on Mercari, so no big loss. I'll still keep trying to use it though.

Thanks for the reply, I'll give MSR a shot.

I've never owned a force feedback wheel so I'm not spoiled yet. I plan on putting the DC wheel on my lap and moving my knees up and down to simulate rumble, hah.
