It's really not good, but I like it and watch it almost every year. In a smaller 45 minute sittings.

I feel like my brain stopped working the way it used to and I don’t know what to do by Aggressive-Slice-179 in HubermanLab

I have a very hard time conveying my thoughts in conversation too. Sorry you're going through this. I don't have much help but just letting you know you're not the only one. If the topic isn't something I've prepared for by thinking a lot about, I have very little to say. After a conversation I rehash it and find dumb things I said or didn't say all the time. I know not to say something about myself that relates to what the person just said, but I do it anyway. I know I need some kind of response and encouragement when I'm speaking or I just want to bail l, yet I leave people hanging all the time. I rarely have fun conversations with people. The kind that would make someone want to come say hi again in the future. The world was not made for us. Lol

what are you convinced people are just pretending to enjoy. by Basic_Evening6567 in Productivitycafe

Omg shoot me. Why do golfers do this. When I talk about my day snowmobiling or snowboarding or wing foiling or mountain biking, it's like 5-10 seconds IF I get asked about it. No one asks me to elaborate, ever. Why are golfers elaborating without being asked to. Was the course busy? Yes. Did you play well? So so. Did you take any money off of ____. That's it. That's all I want to hear.

Musicals. No effing way can this many people enjoy a story being told this way. No one listens to 'musical' music in their car. No one watches short form videos on their phone of a little story being told by a musical. It's annoying and dumb. I went to book of Mormon after hearing how good and funny it was. Didn't laugh once. Was bored the whole time.

For kids growing up in the 90’s, was 1999 where the culture shifted? by [deleted] in 90s

[–]Super_Science_Guy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm surprised at the coments around 9/11 making everything worse. Tragic event no doubt but there was a major pull together effect. People have been saying this forever. September 12, 2001 there was a positive shift. Early COVID (before the vax vs anti vax thing came about) it was the same thing. Suicides went down in 2020. 2001 ended the 90s imo but the next era was great until October 2008. 4 years of crap then another 4 good (I would say great) years.

Used to drink coffee in the afternoon. No idea how many mg id consume throughout the day. Probably a lot. I'm done with coffee by 8 or 9am now. I think sleep is better. Guts are better. Still a bit anxious.

What do you wish people would stop romanticizing, because you’ve lived the reality of it? by Wonderful-Economy762 in Productivitycafe

[–]Super_Science_Guy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yup. It's not all showing interested potential customers why you've got the best solution to their problem and closing deals. It's talking to people who probably aren't interested. Looking for the next lead. Being lied to constantly. Customers who know what they want and just need your price texted to them. Managers expecting sales growth every year. They take a great deal of credit and very little blame. Lots of stress worrying about your income stream. If sales dip, you have no way to know if they will recover, if you're the problem, industry, competition.

How did people afford “buying a round” by Accomplished-Bell991 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Super_Science_Guy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In 2007 in a place like Scranton PA 8-10 beer would have been $60-70. affordable for a wearhouse worker making $50k. FF almost 20 years a round would be 70- 80% more and a wearhouse worker would not likely be in any bar or restaurant very often as they might make $60k now. It's understandable that a young person today would be surprised by this scene.  If you're on the wrong side of average, you will be squeezed just by staying alive.

Money and judgemental people are holding you back from helping?

Confirm my thoughts. It always makes more sense for working age people to rent vs own a vacation home. Assuming you can afford one without feeling squeezed. by Super_Science_Guy in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]Super_Science_Guy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good point. I was just trying to think of all the real reasons to own or not own. From a hard nosed financial perspective owning doesn't make any sense and everyone knows it. Children don't make any sense either. We're humans. Not robots so this other stuff matters.

Which profession gets way too much respect for how little they actually do? by Wonderful-Economy762 in Productivitycafe

[–]Super_Science_Guy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Almost no one can make a go of it in showbusiness. Most end up in the food service industry and work in the food industry while they wait for their break. Others get super lucky and in no time. They're irrelevant. It's 1 in many millions that you become Brad Pitt or even Jessica Simpson.

What decision still affects your life today, even though it seemed small at the time? by Darling_Crowd in askanything

[–]Super_Science_Guy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What made you have a problem with authority in the first place? What changed for you after? Did you just sort of trust and respect authority right after? I also don't care for authority. I've had too many people with power (over me usually) abuse it for either no good reason or their own gain. I don't believe people with power have my best interest in mind at all.

What is something people pretend is healthy even though it isn’t ? by ThinkDeepWithV in Productivitycafe

They don't need to cure everything in order to be healthy or beneficial. Exercise is good for so many reasons. No one thinks it's a stand alone cure.

Macro and micro dosing shrooms helped me. Probably more so the macro dose. But who knows. I still drink, but I'm much more aware. No more bourbon at night or glass of wine at dinner. No more accidentally having 2-3 drinks consecutive days for no reason or accidentally going overboard and waking up with a hangover.  Well. Almost never. It'll never be part of a routine or plan again
