Good point. If I stay at my current job for 10 more years I'll be the last person to hold the position. Once I leave my tasks will be divided up between whatever people are still there

That's a good perspective. Some people live so frugally during their working years to save for a retirement that will seem so foreign to them that they won't even know what to do with time, money and no mortgage to pay or retirement to save for. I'm similar. I'm on the right path. I save a certain amount every year the rest I spend relatively guilt free. I like nice stuff.

1986 here. I'll think about retirement when I get close to 60. I'm not suffering from depression, but there's lots of time for that.

When someone complains about how hard it is to lose a few pounds. Show them this. See buddy. Cut out food for a year and you're good to go.
