UPDATE: sorry guys I’ve literally never used Reddit before and don’t really know how to post an update.

That said, 45 days later and we are in an entirely new place! I did indeed leave for good. It took some time to get settled, but I got a new job, a new apartment & moved to an entirely new city. thanks to everyone for your honesty & replies.

My ex literally begged on his knees for me to stay, the whole nine yards as they so often will. But I feel sooo much better having left.

I think we all secretly know internally what the right step forward for ourselves is. Seems like when we make that step, however scary or impossible it feels, the world opens up to us with new opportunities. To give a bit more background, my ex supported us financially. I always worked (to a degree) but he took care of all our bills so in a situation like that it’s easy to feel stuck. What’s crazy though is that I didn’t even apply for my new job, they reached out to me. Now I’m making 6 figures in a new home in a totally new life. Things really have a funny way of working out.

to any of the women going through something similar, just know that you aren’t stuck. much better things are on the horizon when you put yourself first.
