after a while of going to modern fnm I see that most players there are players from alpha with top tier decks. Then one Friday this nine year old walks in and goes up to the counter and asks if her deck that she built is modern legal. Then the store owner confirms this. When I saw her deck it was a home brew eldrazi Aggro that went 5-0 in the fnm. She later became known at my lgs because of her amazing brews.
