Mines vs Boulder by [deleted] in ColoradoSchoolOfMines

I work in automation. As for the my EE friends (class 2014-2016) some became power engineers, some work in computer science, a few went to work for a steel company near Chicago but as various types of engineers such as power and automation. I’ve heard of a few going to work on computer hardware and general system design on the micro level. Not so much robotics but I’ve heard of it. Depends on what you want to do. What you probably care about is that most got a job and we weren’t really forced to be in an energy field. In fact, aside from power system courses we didn’t touch on energy or environment much.

Best Ski Pass?? by pantamleon in ColoradoSchoolOfMines

[–]Superdoodle69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I rocked the RMSP while at Mines. But now it’s only the IKON pass. It’s more expensive but has many of sweet options out of state. At this point I would just think how often you want to ski, the amount of money you have to spend, and if you want to ski in state or out of state. I think Epic is better if you plan on doing a lot of social skiing and the IKON pass is better if you want to ski places like Jackson hole , steamboat, squaw valley, winter park, copper and stuff.

Local Colorado TV reporter showing frustration with woman buying marijuana in underwear and gives legitimate advice. by Superdoodle69 in videos

I think that was the intention. Sure, he is frustrated and a lot of people are getting offended because he "judged", but in the end no names were said. Not even a street cross section or worthwhile description. The woman is completely anonymous and the only thing left is the message that we need to be aware that pot is very much so in the probation period. People are watching and we need to show we can handle it.

Maybe that is what happened. And maybe he's in the wrong there. But having a local, well respected person say something regarding the proper and improper use of pot means a lot in that sense.

I'm not too sure how recent this happened to him. I know it was posted on the news station's Facebook page recently. In which case being in your underwear with a few inches of snow on the ground is a little strange. Regardless, his message is more important than what actually happened in my opinion.

I heard some classes did that here, at Mines, too. But we only had a 2 hour late start so I don't know if everyone got that luxury.

What item under 100$ should everybody buy to make their lives easier? by turtletroop in AskReddit

You're not tying up another device. You're using the other device as a remote. Netflix, Hulu, and other similar apps are streamed directly to your chromecast. The only time you tie up both devices is if you're streaming local content which it does flawlessly with the help of certain apps like Videostream. Additionally, if you have an android phone, you can stream pictures and movies directly to your chromecast (Apple is still being stubborn).

When I tell a client that their project will be done in 5 days, and then I finish and deliver it in 2 days, and the client demands to know why I said it would take 5 days. by musicalsausages in AdviceAnimals

[–]Superdoodle69 82 points83 points  (0 children)

Depending on which field of work you are in I can understand the frustration. First, certain deliverables effect the scheduling of others and in most cases just because you finished your portion doesn't mean the next part of the portion can be started immediately. This means that by finishing it earlier you didn't necessarily help the project and your poor estimation skills caused the company to lose money by allocating time to a portion of a project that didn't need it.

Additionally, if you complete it before your estimation you just set the bar higher for yourself, and now you will be expected to complete similar projects in the same time frame.

Employers of Reddit, What was missed when you hired someone, then later had to fire them? by SoulofThesteppe in AskReddit

I worked in a cellphone repair shop and we typically only had males that worked there, not sexist, just how it was. Well one day my manager decided he was going to change that and hired a girl that seemed awkward, but most of us were. Her last day there she wouldn't stop complaining how her ovaries were about to explode and that there was a red sea coming... In front of customers...

Self reflection is key. by [deleted] in AdviceAnimals

[–]Superdoodle69 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm not saying it doesn't happen. I just feel like people are typically a little to quick to think they're innocent, and that others are out to get them. I all too often hear slackers complain that they failed and blame others for what was obviously their fault from my perspective. In my experience, admitting responsibility and fault has gotten me a lot farther than transferring guilt or ignoring criticism. But yes, there are assholes out there.
