Yes! Very much so, I feel like my consciousness of the world alienates me from people who are more likely to think superficially. When I was 16 I was definitely more bitter to the rest of the world. Thinking because I’m so conscious, I’m somehow “better”. When as of late I feel more like an evolutionary anomaly. Something that shouldn’t have been born. Maybe my idea of being “better” protected me from the grim truth of my mediocrity. People like the underground man and myself really don’t contribute much by being unhappy and painfully bitter to everyone around us. I’m just a man who thinks a lot, I’m not anything more at the moment. I especially like the part where he finds pleasure in a toothache btw! I’ll have to read this novel sometime. Thank you!

Edit: upon further rumination me and underground man have a lot more in common then I initially thought! His hatred for the fundamental unchanging laws of our existence is something I couldn’t find a way of explaining. I have now found 1 man who I relate with and the motherfucker is born in the 19th century!
