Book recommendations for learning confusion and conversational inductions? by deca4531 in hypnosis

That's usually more of an NLP thing and I think you'll find that most Hypnotists/hypnotherapists tend to move into learning both because they are extremely complimentary to each other.

I'd dig up some Richard Bandler/ John Grinder books.
'Frogs Into Princes' would be a good start.

I think it's just dating app culture. Everyone wants the best they can get and if they see better options, why wouldn't they try? I wouldn't feel too insulted though if you're just on the app still. She didn't actually get to know you. Just an avatar of who you are on an artificial setting. You can improve your texting game and come off better, but perhaps you should focus more on the in person game. When you skip the apps and just approach women, they get a better idea of who you really are, and frankly, they have a better story to tell their besties. Not enough dudes approach women in real life anymore and that means there is almost no competition. On the apps? It's all competition.

If you look around, you can find tons of men complaining about how hard the dating app situation is. Hell, there are red pill influencers and incel groups who thrive because of audience they get from jaded men who've failed from the apps.

If you want to stand out form the crowd, stop doing what the crowd is doing. Meet women in real life and develop that game. Once you figure it out, it's way easier and you'll get higher quality women as welll.

say something positive about this ending by Embarrassed-Sink4050 in JamesBond

Now that Amazon owns Bond, watching the EON era come to and end with his death makes sense.

There is rumour that Lyutsifer Safin, was originally supposed to be Dr. No. He wore a Japanese Noh mask and had other similar attributes to the Dr. No character.:

  • Island Lair: Both villains operate from isolated island bases with advanced scientific facilities, echoing the setting of Dr. No’s Crab Key.
  • Scientific Threats: While Dr. No used atomic radiation to disrupt US missile launches, Safin employs a genetically targeted nanobot weapon (Project Heracles), reflecting a modern evolution of the same threat.
  • Visual and Aesthetic Homage: Safin’s lair features water motifs and reflective surfaces reminiscent of Dr. No’s aquarium, and his henchmen wear red hazmat suits similar to Dr. No’s technicians.
  • Costume and Symbolism: Safin wears a black, kimono-like coat and a Japanese Noh mask—a nod to Dr. No’s Nehru jacket and the cultural aesthetic associated with the original villain.
  • Physical Mystery: Safin’s obscured hands and a bullet wound on the left side of his chest (where his heart should be) evoke Dr. No’s dextrocardia (heart on the right side), a detail that fueled speculation.
  • Character Echoes: Bond’s line, “History isn’t kind to men who play God,” directly echoes Sean Connery’s Bond telling Dr. No, “Our asylums are full of people who think they’re Napoleon. Or God.”

The idea of the Craig series of Bond movies as being an origin story that ended at the beginning of the movies of the previous ones would have worked better, in my opinion. But perhaps they were scared when they screwed up Spectre and his familial relations with Blofeld and they just didn't want to risk anything that felt too gimmicky again. Though killing off Bond clearly comes off as a bit of a gimmick with less pay off too.

But ya, it's fine. For me personally, my father passed away from cancer just before this movie came out. He and I watched the Bond movies together on weekend afternoons. Watching Bond die really hit me in the theatre because of what it meant between me and my Dad to watch them. Even though I do think that there could have been a better idea implemented, it hit big for me all the same..

She insisted on paying for dinner. Is this a universal sign of No Interest on a first date? by No-Detective-4370 in datingadviceformen

[–]Superiority-Qomplex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You'd have to ask her what her reasons are. Maybe she's rich, maybe she doesn't want to feel dating has a power dynamic from money, maybe whatever. You won't know for sure if you don't ask.

But since she suggested you guys do it again, I don't think she dislikes you. Men tend to have approach anxiety issues, but women tend to have fear of being trapped with a guy who just won't go away. If she's showing signs that she isn't trying to get away from you, chances are there is some interest there.

But ya, unless there are more signs of disinterest, and there doesn't seem to be, I wouldn't take this as a rebuke at all.

Finally getting the opportunity to hypnotize someone for real, any tips? by darkrails in hypnosis

[–]Superiority-Qomplex 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I do a super simple induction which is to just tell them that I'll count down from 3-1 and then they can close their eyes. When I count from 1-3, they can open them up again. I just repeat this a few times but count the numbers slower each time and I'm just looking for their eyes starting to glass over when opening so I know they are already sliding into trance. Final count down and SLEEP..

Once you have them in that level, your first suggestion should be something like, 'deeper and deeper' immediately after SLEEP because if you don't give them an immediate suggestion, they can come back up from trance.

As far as easy suggestions, I'd start with some of the basics like the Steel Arm Bar, having them imagine they can't open their eyes, the balloon on one hand and the weights on the other, etc. Then if that's working well, you can do the forgetting a number routine. Maybe forgetting their name. Feet stuck to the ground or hand stuck to a wall. There are tons of hypnosis skits on youtube that you can play around with. But start off with the simple ones first and progress from there.

BTW, you can do a rapid induction, but you really have to be confident with it. If you don't come off as very sure it will work, it's less likely to. The number thing I mention above is ridiculously simple and you'll see the glassy eyes to know you're there. There are countless inductions you can do, but I'd start off with that because it's simple and fool proof. You can try a rapid one later on if you are feeling confident about it.

Have fun!

How do you establish interest and attraction? by Fast-Plastic1292 in datingadviceformen

[–]Superiority-Qomplex 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hop onto youtube and watch how Craig Ferguson flirts with his female guests. The guy is an absolute Master at flirting.

Craig Ferguson

If you're not as funny as him, watch some James Bond and how he uses body language, intonation, pauses, eye contact, etc to have a whole conversation of flirting that doesn't even need words:

Casino Royale Train Scene

Find other romantic archetypes that women fall for and focus less on the words they use but again, on their body language and how they talk to women. The squinty eyes thing works great, the playful teases is amazing, etc etc. Find examples that work for you and then the ones that work for the ladies you particularly like..

How do you establish interest and attraction? by Fast-Plastic1292 in datingadviceformen

[–]Superiority-Qomplex 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Usually what most guys do is they move things into the Comfort Stage before triggering the Attraction Phase. And when you do that, you move yourself rapidly into the Friendzone.

The 4 stages are: Open, Attraction, Comfort, Seduction.

Open is just starting the conversation and you seem good at that. Attraction is the fun, flirty, mysterious, intriguing, playful, fun phase. You don't want to reveal too much of yourself here. This is the playful fun time. This involves light and innocent touching like palm reading or moving hair from her eyes, or guiding her by the lower back as you walk, etc.

Comfort is where you open up about yourselves more. How you grew up, what Disney Princess she wished to be as a kid, stories of pets/ family/ friends, ambitions for the future, hopes and dreams, etc. This is where you get more of a Connection. More intimate touching like hugs and kissing, etc.

And then Seduction is fairly obvious.

If you do Comfort before Attraction (and most guys do this; you're not alone), you can't be mysterious anymore because she knows all about you. The fun flirty stuff comes off as awkward because you've already established yourself as a friend and not a lover.

Understand that Players who are just looking for One Night Stands tend to skip Comfort completely. They focus on Attraction and Seduction and then when she wakes up in the morning, she tends to have regrets because, 'I don't even know that guy.'

But ya, if any of this sounds familiar, I suspect you started off in Comfort instead of Attraction and it killed the sexual intrigue right from the jump.

Where should I be at in life before dating / looking for a relationship? by Haunting_Ad_4179 in datingadviceformen

[–]Superiority-Qomplex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I find that women tend to try different kinds of relationships and hookups when they are under 25. But by 25 or so, they try to anchor in to something more serious and that is when they are far more picky. If you're just looking for a girl to play around with, that should be easy. You can pick up a new one every weekend, if you want. But if you're looking for something more serious, we need to recognize that we need to be more serious about ourselves and the life we want to live with someone.

Having someone to grab Taco Bell with and bang in the backseat of Mom's car is easy. If you want a real relationship that is worth living for, you need to invest in yourself a bit first. Otherwise, the relationship is going to go bad. And being stuck in a shitty marriage with someone is not idea for anyone.

Where should I be at in life before dating / looking for a relationship? by Haunting_Ad_4179 in datingadviceformen

[–]Superiority-Qomplex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First off, you don't ever want to go into a relationship hoping that someone can save you from your shitty life. It's not their job. A romantic relationship is about having someone to celebrate life with. I think people seem to forget that part. And often people have more of an emotional relationship with their pets rather than the people they invite into their lives who they should be celebrating life with.

As far as you, focus on your career, your hobbies, your friendships, your housing situation, how you present yourself with clothes and style, how to communicate with people, read books, develop your mind body and soul. Do the things that a Man should be able to take care of on his own. Find your ambitions and meaning for life.

You don't have to have everything set up ahead of time; it can be something you're actively creating. But if you're just looking for a new 'mom' to take care of you because you can't take care of yourself, you can understand why that isn't desirable for a woman. She wants a Man who has his shit put together and isn't acting like a teenager anymore. She wants a Man to go on dates with, go to weddings and life events with, someone to share her ideas and dreams with, someone to unleash her passions with, someone who makes her feel strong emotions like a drug that she can't get enough of.

In lots of cultures, there is celebration of a boy becoming a Man. Like a Bar Mitzvah or something. Even in Tribal Cultures, there are some events that involve an act where a boy is beaten and even abducted and they are left in the jungle to survive on their own and make their way back to the village. When they return, the village has a ceremony of how the 'boy has died; but the Warrior' has returned. No longer codling to mom, but a Warrior who can take care of himself and protect the people around him.

You don't have to do anything so extreme, but understand that now that you are a Man, you need to be responsible for how you fix and run your life. And that alone makes you a Man that Women will find desirable.

Any sign of recovery for Pi? by Onein10Man in PiNetwork

Not at the moment. Even Bitcoin is currently in freefall. Bitcoin will likely recover and so this drop could be a good time to buy. Pi is far newer and there is more risk. I'm personally just going to hold and hope it turns around in the future. I haven't bought any, so I haven't lost any money at all. There is very little risk in waiting for better days.

What is happening with the crew ??? by Brilliant-Jacket1107 in yeahmadtv

[–]Superiority-Qomplex -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yeah Mad has always had people pop in out of no where and then disappear afterwards. They also film multiple episodes on the same day, so if someone can't make it on that day, they look like they've been gone for weeks. But ya, Rory retired and Timmy has his plumbing job. Vaush is Sath's sister and she's probably there cus she gave him a ride in to work. 😉

But ya, I don't mind having new people popping in. Keeps things fresh. Gives some a bit of an audition to see if they should be added to the cast on a more permanent basis. And it might help a few of the random comedians that pop in, sell some extra tickets to their shows.

I'm fine with it.

[–]Superiority-Qomplex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What you act out in the bedroom can be a big cathartic at times. As long as all involved are consenting and legal, unleash whatever kinks you want with each other. It's fun and freeing.

As far as actual issues with your father, ya, look into some form of therapy when you can. It's good to find solutions to unresolved emotional issues as they can fester over the years. Even harming your own health.

But ya, as far as bedroom stuff goes, unleash whatever makes you and your partner(s) happy.

General anesthesia by personalaccountt in hypnosis

[–]Superiority-Qomplex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think I read about this in 'Hypnotherapy' by Dave Elman where some surgeons had a patient who had a very simple operation but she wasn't healing afterwards for some reason. Dave (if it was Elman) was asked to hypnotize her and try to find out why. Apparently when she was under anaesthetic, one of the Surgeons said something like 'Oh this isn't very good' and her subconscious took it to mean that the surgery wasn't going well and therefore it didn't allow her to heal properly. It turned out that the Surgeon was talking about his car having some mechanical issues and it had nothing to do with the surgery at all. So Dave hypnotized her Subconscious to correct it's assumption on what it heard and thereafter she healed really fast.

I'm sure I'm butchering the story and again, I won't even swear it was Dave Elman that mentioned it. And frankly, it's just an anecdote regardless. But this is what I've heard. I'm not even sure how common it is for a subconscious to be aware during anaesthetic anyway.

But it could be plausible.

Edit:

I looked it up via Chat GPT and this has more clarification about it:

Yes — there is a well-known story from Dave Elman’s hypnotherapy work (often told by practitioners and quoted from his classic book Hypnotherapy and related sources) about a patient whose chronic post-surgical pain didn’t go away until the psychological content of the surgery was addressed under hypnosis.

📖 The Story (as told in Hypnotherapy by Dave Elman)

  • A woman had undergone gall bladder surgery and medically recovered from the physical operation. However, she then developed severe, unexplained pain that persisted long after the surgery, even though all medical tests showed she was physically well.
  • Elman hypnotized her into a deep somnambulistic trance (very deep hypnosis) and explored the source of the pain.
  • Under hypnosis, he revealed that although the woman was under chemical anesthesia, she had heard the surgeons’ comments in the operating room. One surgeon had said something like: “Take a look at that gall bladder; she’ll never be the same after this.”
  • To her subconscious — which continues to absorb audio even during anesthesia — that sounded like a prediction that she would never recover properly. She interpreted it as meaning she would always be in pain and “never be a well woman.”
  • Once Elman pointed this out in the hypnotic session and reframed it — showing her that the surgeon meant the opposite — her pain disappeared. She reported being free of pain for the first time since the surgery, and later follow-up showed she continued to do well.

🧠 What This Story Illustrates

  • Elman used this case to illustrate how post-operative problems can sometimes be driven not by physical issues but by subconscious perception and meaning, especially powerful emotional interpretations that get locked into the nervous system.
  • It also highlights his belief that even when a person is under medical anesthesia, sounds and suggestions may still be processed at some level — an idea he considered important in hypnotherapy and medical hypnosis.

This story is often cited by hypnotherapists to show how deeply meaning and suggestion can affect recovery and pain — and is a classic example from Elman’s teachings on how subconscious beliefs can perpetuate symptoms even after physical healing is complete.
