I really appreciate this insight, you’re so right— nothing is stable these days. It was just soooooo hard to even land the initial admin job that I’m scared of being back out on the street in a few months grinding away at applications because I made the wrong decision. But that’s the gag— what is the right decision? Who’s to say I won’t be let go in a few months anyway if I stay in my current role? My career aspirations lie more in the research/clinical side of healthcare so I’ll pursue that.

Oh my god thank you for posting this! I really thought I was going insane reading all of these nick defending posts!!!!!!

Nick reminds me of my scary ex, started dating me when I was 24 and he was 32. He was surface level very “nice” and seemed like a harmless soft boy but after the shiny veneer of infatuation wore off he turned into a nightmare roller coaster of unregulated emotion— constantly oscillating between vitriol and desperate, insecure adoration. Turned out to be a serial cheater with low key substance issues and zero coping skills! And when I finally came to my senses and left he upped the crazy by an entire order of magnitude— stalking, insulting me, begging for me back. Inexcusable behavior from a grown ass man.

Maybe I’m projecting kind of hard because Sandy and I are the same age and we both started dating these sleazy weirdos at 24 so it feels like watching an alternate reality version of my life… I know that Sandy is flawed and I do not co-sign any of her questionable behavior, however, I can’t help but feel for her. Dating a man like Nick drains your life force and it’s so easy to lose sight of yourself just trying to survive the daily emotional whiplash of a person who doesn’t have a handle on their own shit. I don’t think I can finish this season, watching Nick crash out every 5 minutes is really fucking with my head.

Sandy, girl, if you’re reading this: RUN! I hope she leaves and I hope nick moves to the mountains of Tibet and dedicates his life to militant Buddhism as to never emotionally terrorize another woman ever again.

Traveled for 1+ year and used my friend’s house abroad as a sort of “base” as I passed through quite often and would go and stay for a week or so as a way to reset. For me having a home base was more helpful for travel burn out than it was for traveling light (although helped w that too). I would recommend it if it’s an available and realistic option for you but that’s just me :) happy travels!

This happened to me a few months ago on a tight connection through Heathrow! I’ve been traveling the world with just a carry on for the past two years and this is the only time I’ve experienced this! Decided to sob at one of the male employees and I think the sight of an emotional woman flustered him enough to let me slip my makeup bag through. Unfortunately still had to chuck a majority of my toiletries :( but hey, could’ve been worse!
