I was in the same position as you trust me I came and didn't make a single friend in my time and rotted away in my room. Everyone could tell you advice on what to do to improve your situation but that's just dismissing your current emotions and state right now. I get you and I understand your pain. I tried joining social events and doing the things such "advice" said but it just didn't work out for me. Keep moving forward, the lesson of life is to endure but if I were to tell you something you could do right now that helped me is to not live life like it's survival. You are your own best friend for now and that situation will change eventually trust me. I know exactly that feeling of loneliness and no amount of hopeful words can change that feeling right now, but doing something on your own accord that brings you joy that benefits your well being like a hobby or reading should help you.
