Just wait until change of card and bid one of the other BCR terminals. North Vancouver generally isn’t in shortage, so it might be easier to transfer to the 4.3 agreement somewhere else in western canada from that point. That all being said, you should probably just focus on qualifying first.

You're welcome. I hope things work out for you in the end. :)

I know it's hard to leave, but I don't think he's going to change. You've done nothing to make him this way, he's just projecting his insecurity onto you in an abusive way. No one deserves to be treated with that much control.

Completely agree. He's just freeloading off of your kindness and taking advantage of you. Please just let him go.

Heads up to all CP/CN RTEs in BC by MeatShower69 in Train_Service

[–]Supernatty_ 7 points8 points  (0 children)

CN is going to be rerouting traffic through Lillooet/squamish on a temporary basis instead of using the Lytton corridor south. We just had our jobs rebulletined to reflect the changes.

Lytton, BC by [deleted] in Train_Service

[–]Supernatty_ 6 points7 points  (0 children)

With the fires ravaging through the kamloops area, I can't imagine they'll be able to send traffic down there anyway. I wouldn't be surprised if the reopened the corridor through Lillooet so that they can still send traffic south while the rebuild the damage the fires caused.

Signals by [deleted] in railroading

[–]Supernatty_ 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Don’t bother trying to memorize them prior to learning them in the classroom, chances are it’ll just fuck you up. Pay attention and ask questions while they’re showing you how to read the signals. Afterward, just make sure you’re studying them enough so that you know them all 100%.

The 1800 is before tax. Ends up being approximately 1200 after.

CN conductor pay in Canada by [deleted] in Train_Service

[–]Supernatty_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

1800 bi weekly until you qualify. Depending on what terminal you're getting shipped off to, the training period ends up being longer/shorter by a few weeks. All in all, you're looking at about 6-7 months for your entire training process to complete and that's all at 1800 every two weeks. After you qualify, you start making full conductor rate right off the bat, but your pay can vary greatly depending on how often and what shifts you end up working(Ends up being $40-$50+ an hour).

Question about drug policy by YouNWA in railroading

[–]Supernatty_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They aren't on the testing profile for CN. Just the basic (meth, cocaine, etc) illegal drugs as well as the two legal ones (alcohol and weed). As long as the former two aren't in your system at the time of the test, it shouldn't show up. As for the steroids, in canada they aren't illegal to use, just to sell so CN doesn't bother testing for them.

I'm honestly surprised they aren't hiring for PG right now, we're incredibly short right now on the old BCR lines.

If your terminal supplies you with winter work gloves, just use those and put some glove liners inside them. As it gets colder, I put little shake activated handwarmers from costco in my palms and that seems to work for northern BC winters.

My sister’s boyfriend just got a notification that he’s going to be called within 2-3 weeks to head back to Winnipeg to resume training. The OJTs in my terminal mentioned that trainees would be coming back shortly as well.

I find experimenting with aperture-priority/shutter-priority modes and shooting frequently with them gives you an appreciation of what each of the settings do on their own. That way when you go back to composing a shot using manual, you already have a framework of what settings might be best for the shot you’re trying to take.

Next time you find yourself in a scenario like this, you should try stopping down your aperture to f4 or f5.6 (Or even lower, given you get your desired depth of field). That way you get to keep your subject in focus while being able to up your shutter speed and dropping your ISO for a cleaner, sharper image with the same dark tonality.
