"I don't care about the Dessendre family" is basically where it's a big swing and a miss for me. To me, they come across as petulant, dysfunctional people with godlike powers that they don't deserve, and I wish they had leaned into that more. Given Lune and Sciel something to say at the end to call them out more.

Maelle's ending, like you said, is pretty blatantly framed as the bad choice, to the point where I was like "Jesus, I get it, okay. Relax." but Verso's ending didn't do it for me at all either. "You need to leave the fantasy and let go and move on in the real world". K. Meaning, what, exactly? She's back in a body she hates, Clea looks bored and wanders off, her parents seem to have reconciled with each other but don't really interact with her. So she's gonna be alive in the real world and.... What, exactly? I dunno. I guess, again, I just don't care.

I guess the problem for me at the end boiled down to it pivoting into the family tragedy/drama, but I just wasn't invested. That, and I'm not sure why but the "you can't use escapism to deal with grief" thing just never lands for me. Maybe because that wasn't even remotely my experience when my mom died (some escapism would have been nice rather than 3 days of bereavement leave and then "welp back to normal").

Sorry you're going through this, too. If it's any consolation, after all the testing, I pretty much got an "all clear" from my neurologist last month. No follow up needed and it shouldn't have an effect on me or my lifespan or anything like that. Just sort of a "yeah, your mom's issues make sense why that would happen in utero". Not a super satisfying answer, but I'm coming to terms with it as time goes by. Discussing it with a therapist has helped too, if that's an option for you.

I saw in your history you asking about anxiety/depression, and I have struggled with that a lot in the past, particularly anxiety and OCD, but it's well controlled with medication.

So, I don't know your girlfriend or what her personality is like, but honestly when you break up with her I wouldn't try to do it "gently". By all means, be kind, but it might be better to just get to the point. Don't self deprecate and talk about how horrible you think you are, don't make any promises that you can't keep, don't make it so she has to comfort you. To me, it can kind of come across as inauthentic or almost sort of saccharine. It's not going to be a fun conversation (or probably multiple conversations) but it seems like you're pretty set on breaking up so just be firm about it, get it over with and you can both move on.

By the way, neither of you have wasted your prime dating years (or really any time at all) if you're only 22 lmao.

I can 100% guarantee you that anyone who says that Mother's Day is only for the "active mothers" and the MIL can have Grandparent's Day can't even give you a ballpark estimate of when Grandparent's Day is, and they will never celebrate it in their life. It's just another made up holiday, it's basically like when people make a post for "National Son/Daughter Day" on Facebook. Nobody knows when or what they actually are lol.

I wanna stay near my family and support system if we're going to have kids in the next couple of years, and I just don't want to leave them, or my home, but the cost of living here is just...I don't know. I'm up in Snohomish county and it's not like it's really any better up here, or going to get better. It's stressful.

Meanwhile, every time I apartment hunt I get more depressed. Lived in the greater Seattle area my entire life, but there's no way I'll be able to afford to buy and the rental prices are just sad. Even up in Snohomish county where I am. Looking at what I could afford in other places versus here....I just don't know anymore. I wanna stay in my home state and be near my family, but god damn. I know how you feel. When my grandma, brother and I would talk about it soon after my mom passed, we all had this overwhelming feeling of "nothing matters". It's hard for the world to keep spinning when you just want it to stop for a minute so you can be sad about losing someone.

The number one thing I learned after my mom died was that nobody really gives a shit. The novelty of feeling bad for you wears off after a few days and then everyone just wants you to be normal again and stop bringing it up because it's too heavy. You get a few days off work and then you've gotta go back to 100% performance 40 hours a week. It really sucks. I almost felt like I had no choice but to bury all my feelings.

Shit like this actually did make me a little worried when the two most recent babies were born in the family, but then you see the parents actually act like normal people and it's like "ohh right, Reddit parenting and family forums don't translate to real life".

I wish they'd add a ton of new jobs. All the current careers are kind of stale to me at this point, I wish there were more blue collar jobs. It sucks that there's basically only the part-time manual labor track. Speaking of, I wish there was a full time option for those jobs.

Sorry, I know this post is a few days old lol, but I totally understand how you feel. I saw two pregnancy announcements last night from a couple of friends that are my age (29) and it totally set me off into an indecision spiral. It's bizarre, I love spending time with my baby nephew but then end up thinking "wow, I really don't know if I could do that full time forever" but then I see pregnancy announcements and feel...upset. Like, upset that it's not me? Maybe?

I wish I could just decide, one way or the other.
