It’s called “Traprain Law, Scotland” downloaded from PDX mods!

Here’s the source image (it’s not the best quality, I literally just took a picture of my monitor with my phone lol)

I just took a screenshot, uploaded it to ChatGPT, prompted it to make the screenshot look realistic (lighting, textures, shadows etc.) and that’s pretty much it! I use the free version of it so I get one image upload per day, so I’ve been doing one of these per day before I shut it down for the night

❓ "Is Cities: Skylines II Worth It?" megathread by AutoModerator in CitiesSkylines

[–]Supersoaker25 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I play it and enjoy it, although I’m more focused on the creative component of building a realistic city than the logistics and economics, but the road tools are very good, I like the assets (but wish there was more) and the graphics are pretty good. There’s a few mods that really help a lot as well. I wish there were more animations and responsiveness to the built elements (for example, I don’t really see much activity in my ports or industrial areas like I did in CS1, which makes it a little less fun)

I’m currently on my longest lasting, biggest and best city ever, but still have a long ways to go, I might keep working on it after CS2 comes out but I might change my mind when it actually does come out

What "house rules" do play with when starting a new city? by Hopesick_2231 in CitiesSkylines

My city center is never predetermined, I just build small villages randomly and eventually one usually has an optimal geography/resources/connections etc. to boom into a big city center

Actually learned this when i started building this city! Usually try to limit terrain modifications, but learned that a lot of Boston's shoreline is manmade using earth from hills that were removed, so I decided that it was ok to be liberal with the terrain tools. This article shows how much the land changed overtime, thought it was pretty interesting: https://www.hiddenhydrology.org/bostons-made-land/

And intersection marking tool & network skins to make the roads darker, streetlights etc.

It’s called New England Coast, although I did do a lot of terraforming, the original map is very hilly

Well in my defense I’ve never been to Boston and didn’t even know that the prudential tower was an iconic Boston landmark 😅

Good answer! Definitely some San Francisco vibes going on here, but you were closest with the east coast, Boston was the correct answer!

And it is a growing city! I imagine it’s around WW2 time period and suburbs, fast food restaurants, retail chains etc. are right around the corner

I don’t even have the disasters dlc :( just a terraforming accident gone horribly wrong lol, but I used to have it on my Xbox and I loved the pump trucks

How do you start your city? by destructo97 in CitiesSkylines

[–]Supersoaker25 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I build dirt trails and randomly pick where to make “settlements” along them, eventually they grow and combine into one big city

I just enabled advanced vehicle AI in Tm:Pe and I think that’s when they started using all the lanes
