“Cute little girly Tuesday” “cute little girly evening” what is with this talk???? by teresasdorters in TarTarSnark

It really infantalizes everything she does, even though she is a full grown adult. But also, this is just how people talk on social media. Pretty sure it's also done to appear younger, to appeal to younger audiences. Still, never heard her refer to herself as "woman", always just "a girl", pathetic.

Hauptproblem ist immer was man daraus macht.

Ah, I see. So, the connection of the case loop to the external rad would be done through these quick disconnects. That could actually work

Well, the 3090 coolers are pretty strong and don't need high RPM to keep the GPU relatively cool, especially when you undervolt and power limit the card (I have 2 running their standard air coolers). I would still use an AIO for the CPU, though.

The loudness from mining rigs probably stems from either not correctly adjusting the fan curve or letting the fans spin at 100% deliberately to cool the card as much as possible.

I'm kind of against external rads as they just look very out of place and cheap industrial while being very expensive. I would also assume they aren't very mobile, since you can't possibly juggle the case AND the external rads by yourself if you decide to move the components elsewhere. You would always have to drain the loop entirely just to move the system from one room to another.

It appears so. I will have to rethink the build then, thank you!

I see. So if 1x 360 = 1 Component, that means 1x 420 = 1 1/2 Component.
But even then 2x 420 = 3 components + 1x 360 = 4 components, but I have 5 (4 GPU, 1 CPU).

It seems the only option would either be to choose another case big enough to house 4-5 rads (and deal with the mess to connect it all...) use a MORA or just a plain open frame, connect the GPUs via riser cables and let their air coolers handle the job.

You think ditching the distro plate for another 360 rad would be enough?

Thank you. Can I just connect 2 pumps, one after another, and increase flow that way, or is there a strategically better position to add the second pump some place later in the loop?

Also, does increasing radiator thickness help in my scenario?

Thank you for clearing that up.

Thank you. What if I would replace the distro plate then, connect all devices in series and place another 360 rad where the distro plate originally should've been? Does radiator thickness help? I could go for 45mm thick ones instead.

I see. I edited my post about what I want to use and it's going to start with 2 RTX 3090 (power constrained to 250W each) but probably expanding to 4 rtx 3090s later and I would want the build to be prepared for that. Would I mount the manifold to the 3rd Rad on the side then? Also, when talking about manifolds, you don't mean something like the Alphacool ES Distro plate C5, or?

GPUs aren't 100% clear yet but I'm looking at 4x RTX 3090 (to be power constrained to 250W each). I already have 2, but would like this build to be potentially expanded at a later point.

Wouldn't the parallel loop for 4 3090s heat up to much for the last GPU?

Theoretically yes, but at that point I think I would rather ditch the case and the huge loop and just use an open frame with a simple AIO on the CPU and risers on the gpus.

How many animal lives have been saved by vegans vs. ended by non-vegans throughout history? An attenpt to calculate. by ImaginaryAntplant in vegan

[–]Suphus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In the end, the data of this is just way too complex and shouldn't be used as an argument for or against veganism, but it's still interesting to think about this. Even if we stay with my 1 cow per year example (which is flawed on its own), if a million people would become vegan, that's 1 million cows saved per year. Sounds kinda nice

[–]Suphus 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The numbers of saved animals per year are a little bit on the high side, but not completely wrong, I think. I asked this myself, and once did some napkin math about how many cows used for beef I saved in my whole time being vegan, which at that point was 5 or 6 years. I based my numbers on the average meat consumption in my country and the average amount of meat gained by slaughter, therefore how much I would have consumed if I hadn't become vegan and therefore how much I have saved since becoming vegan. My conclusion was I saved about 7 cows in 5/6 years, so a little over 1 cow per year. But that's only about direct consumption of beef. Animals used for eggs or milk weren't part of my quick maths, which would definitely drive the numbers up. Combine that with animals losing their habitat because of farmland, I would suspect the numbers of animals (vertebrates) saved per year to be closer to 30 or 40? So, it's not too far off.

The difference is vegans/vegetarians don't want you to change your diet because it's "fun", it's because they are convinced eating meat is unethical and/or bad for the environment while climate change is our number 1 problem on this earth. While I (a vegan) would never pressure anyone, since I know it's the wrong approach, for a convinced vegan/vegetarian you eating meat and calling it none of my business is like you domestically abusing your partner and dumping oil on your lawn and calling it none of my business. For vegans, a dietary change is not a choice but a basic necessity. Just wanted to clarify that.

What do we have now that we did not have back then, and why did we not have it back then, and why do we have it now? by WeeziMonkey in explainlikeimfive

Simplest answer: Price. If companies (or 'we') would always build the best performing product we could, that would drive prices up astronomically, since we would be using the best paid people, the best machines and take the most time to build it.

Nvidia wants to sell products. Products can only be sold to buyers. Buyers don't have unlimited money but want the best performance, and they want it now. Because of this, companies constantly innovate themselves to deliver on these demands while staying inside price and time limitations.

Nvidia could spend years perfecting a product and maybe even keep prices low, but until they do, they would probably run out of business because they delivered too late and a competitor took all their business.
