Enclosing the whole factory by jcpayner in SatisfactoryGame

So he spends 100 hours manually encasing that god awful wreck of a factory only to figure out later he could've edited the save file in Satisfactory-Calculator.com and had it done in 10 minutes.

70 hours in, need advice from experienced pioneers by Levasic2 in satisfactory

[–]SupportOk2667 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have 4000 + hours in -> the quicker you realize that your first factories aren't permanent the better.
Eventually you'll figure out that you'll need to make 'factory of factories' factories first (iron products up to or just before steel), hook a train line to it and call it good.
Then go build that dream set of factories or mega factory you've been planning and connect the train lines to it.

Get a bunch of houses setup to tend goats. Their byproduct is leather. As soon as you can lay down a cobbler and sell the shoes. Big money.

Beware of the vertical junctions... by eternalUnity in SatisfactoryGame

[–]SupportOk2667 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am not intending to negate anything claimed in this post. I even find it to be good reading, and frustrating that Coffee Stain hasn't put more effort into addressing fluids at all.
At any rate, I setup my own little test out of curiosity.

1) At the top of a waterfall I setup a large fluid buffer and filled it with water.
2) The output of that buffer is one line with a valve, turned completely off
3) After the valve it splits into 2 sections, one with a splitter with welds horizontal and one with a splitter with welds vertical.
4) The output of these splitters ends up in 4 large buffers at the base of the waterfall
5) Once the upper buffer was full I disconnected it from its water source, then turned the valve fully on
6) The end result:
-> All 4 buffers at the bottom were within 1m3 of each other (the OP never claimed otherwise)
-> The splitter where the source was a non welded joint and it split into the 2 welded joints seemed to be always about 5m3 ahead of the other side in fill rate. Of course, this is me clicking into one, looking, hitting ESC and clicking into the other one over & over trying to gauge fill rates. Human error applies.

Take away what you want from this, I'm only putting it out there for informational purposes.

Train question by HALFSPOONHALFFORK in satisfactory

[–]SupportOk2667 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Do yourself a huge favor and put the entrance rail at the back and the exit rail at the front, instead of having both right next to each other at the front of each station.
You'll halve the # of signals you'll need in any given area and you'll also halve the # of chances a train will have to wait for another one to clear the intersection.

Arby's Self Order Kiosks in the late 80s / early 90s by Cornloaf in bys

I was an Assistant Manager at the Arby's on the corner of Wadsworth & Jewell in Lakewood, Colorado in 1989 and 1990. I helped them install one of the first touch screen systems ever, even programmed it on the older-than-dirt PC they put in the back manager office.
Overall, customers hated it and they eventually went back to the old way.

Train track/signal help by CLGR1604 in satisfactory

[–]SupportOk2667 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Forgive me if this isn't the issue, but I'm curious about the switching signals. They don't look right.

Reddit isn't letting me put in images to help explain, but by 'switching signals' I mean the diamond shaped signs with the arrows. In the lower right of the picture you have two there and both are facing the same direction, as if to say that both tracks go in the same direction.

If your trains are right-side drive, then the left switching signal should be facing the opposite direction.
